The best news I've had in 41 years--adopted kid is okay!

A daughter given up for adoption 41 years ago, just located and contacted me. I'm still sort of in shock.

My daughter is an attorney in a 10-year lesbian relationship, and has a cockatoo and two chihuahuas.

So how do you talk to an upper-class kid you never knew?

She's not a kid anymore, so just talk to her like you would anyone you just met... with respect, interest, and enthusiasm.

I'm adopted, and I went searching for my parents several years ago...

My father was visiting the US from Poland/Russia area & must be free floating somewhere around Europe or Russia at this point...

The boarding house where my mother was staying unfortunately did not collect enough info for me to be able to find her -- So it kinda sucks not knowing anything other than the few sketchy details of their lives that the agency provided...

You are lucky -- give thanks! I'm sure whatever you say will be good enough :) It would be for me...

21. So sorry, sundog.

I do know I'm lucky. Do you know how many years I've been tearing my hair out every time I read about a kid being abused in foster care?

I'm sure your birth parents were good people -- obviously I don't know who they are either, but I'm just going to judge them by your posts, which is all I have to go by. Makes them look pretty good to me.

14. being a lawyer does not necessarily make her upper class
what type of law does she practice?, just a thought though, she's lucky she has an open minded father, if you were an active member on free republic I doubt this posting would have occurred

20. Congratulations
I have almost 4 years before my kid can even start looking for me.

I wonder how she is sometimes.

Then I just have to keep in mind that there is nothing I can do about any of it except hope she's healthy and happy.

24. That's awesome news!
My aunt gave a daughter up for adoption and recently reconnected with her daughter. Our whole family instantly bonded with her.

My wife is also adopted. She has never expressed a desire to find her birth mother. I think she is scared of hurting her adoptive parents.

You are extremely fortunate that your daughter wanted to find you and then was succesful.
