I remember pulling into port and just chomping on the bit to go on liberty. This would be a great way to hit the beach in a hurry! (as long as you landed upright of course)

5. It's Happened Before

The winding gear on an Aircraft Carrier broke during WWII and the enterprising seamen welded a hook to a Jeep so they could pull the launching wire back.

Well, the Officer on the launch detail wasn't watching and launched the Jeep about a quarter-or-a-mile.

HE was the one that had to explain that incident to the Quartermaster when they were in port to resupply.

Why waste a Trabant when you can send a REAL American car(kinda) to the deep?
Maybe they shoulda' hooked up an old F-14 motor to it? Kinda give it a little boost with an old JATO unit or two, eh?

8. Well, if this vessel was on duty in the Atlantic..

And made a stop in Germany, Trabis can be had relativley cheaply. They are the cheapest cars in Germany.
