Patti Smith is the Goddess!
Let's form a cult. Wait there already is one!

I saw her outside at a festival last night. She was wonderful, as ever, and very political. Great People Have the Power, Dancing Barefoot, SUmmer Cannibals, Because the Night, etc. Then she stood outside her bus and talked to people after. WOW! :)

Especially Horses, Easter and Wave - "Dancing Barefoot" is probably my most favorite, followed by "We Three." Did she do that one? Oh, I'm jealous - sounds fabulous!!!

2. I don't think she did that one
She did do Pissing in A River. She is so inspiring. One of my closest female freinds and I had a long talk after about female creativity as you get older and she is a great example of ongoing, amazing creativity and vision. She is also such a "mom" and I mean that in the best sense. What a cool woman. She also had her son playing with her, as well. Wish I had had time to go up and talk to her. I have seen her twice before in a club and in a theatre ( acoustic/spoken word) and she never ceases to amaze!

4. Like I said, I absolutely love her :)
I was so sad for her when Fred died, but I'm glad to see that she had her son up there with her. He certainly comes from an amazing musical background with those two for parents!! :D

12. you know I couldn't tell because we were sitting pretty far
back. She has in the past. I didn't see her spit either, although she did when I saw her in a club about two years ago. She has a great sense of humor.

15. who is that talking?
so what is the deal with the name change? What happened to our man about town Whit? Will he still be around? or is he gone forever?

:)

It was great. She is soooo coool. I want to be like her when I grow up. She has such as great presence as a performer and a person. And then she just stood around by her bus after. That's so great.

Now I rise in his place like a Phoenix from the ashes.

Speaking of the phoenix from the ashes....

I wish it were the Pirates. There are a lot of ashes to rise from, :(
well al I wish you well in your new incarnation! But I miss your previous manifestation. He was fun.

for a further non sequitur, we are now going to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I am excited, I think, more than my son is!

20. Thanks for the report!
Will be going to New Orleans HOB next Tuesday. Any other DUers planning on attending, raise your hands.

BTW, did Patti Smith do the more open-ended, long form songs Ghandi or Radio Baghdad from the new CD?
