Cosme Leal III's truck collapsed through the pavement early Wednesday morning and had sunk into the roadway all the way to the top of his windshield by the time police arrived.
Leal said he was on his way to work when he noticed a puddle in the road after a turn. When he slowed down and tried to drive through it, the road collapsed beneath his front tires.

Leal said he hadn't even had a chance to open his beverage, a banana smoothie, inside the truck before the collapse. No estimates of the damage were immediately available Wednesday. A tow truck pulled his vehicle out of the sinkhole and the water leak was being repaired.
"He certainly found this one for us," said Tilden Smith, 35, water system foreman.
