I want this cat....

Her coat is fluffy and medium in length and a gorgeous deep seal point. She has the usual blue eyes. She is playful in a calm sort of way and very affectionate. Mellow and laid back. She is declawed on the front and we suspect that she is also spayed but cannot be sure.Cats without identification are placed for adoption immediately due to the large numbers impounded each day.

My boyfriend says 5 cats is enough.

Gimme some good arguments (other than the euthanasia argument).

2. She's beautiful, she looks just like my Kramer.
We just added 2 kittens and have decided that for us 3 is enough.

I don't think I can give a better argument than that picture.

11. The one on the left has that "You better do as we say or...
...I'll let my friend here loose on you, and trust me, you don't want that."

5. How old are your five cats?
if any are over 14, then it's good to get a younger one to fill a void before there is one, especially if you are happy with the behavior of your current cats (they can instruct the new one on how to behave in your home).

6. Let's see....
Mariko is 18 years old.
Xantha is about 14 years old.
Tonka is about 10 years old.
Sybil is about 10 years old.
Logan is about 3 years old.

That's a good argument.

14. Do they enjoy one another's company?
Cats generally like things to be as they always were. My 15 year old, Miro, was beside himself when my other senior cat, Peewee, passed away last year. I brought Oberon home only three weeks later, and was very glad that I did; Miro has been MUCH happier with another feline friend in the house again (me too!) I added Puck later, and although Miro has been slower to accept her (I never had a third cat before), they are finally playing and sleeping together.

Sadly, Mariko is beginning to push the limits of feline longevity. If you don't think the new addition would be too upsetting to her, I would certainly go for it!

12. On the bright side that cat will get adopted quickly
I work as a volunteer for a pet adoption group who has an area at our local pet smart. Every once in awhile we'll get a purebread in there: a few Persians, a Himalayian, a few Maine Cats and once a Pixie Bob (the minature Bobcat). Those cats rarely stay longer than 48 hours because people are always looking for a good bargain. It's like finding a trendy designer purse at a yard sale with a cheap price tag on it.

The longest we ever had a Siamese was two weeks, but that's because we wanted to have her adopted with her son, which was only half Siamese (he came out all black but he acted & meowed like he was Siamese).

I say with cats at 18 & 14, you have a good argument for making this your next pet. But I highly doubt that cat will be put to sleep for lack of anyone wanting to adopt it!!

15. I have six cats. But I do draw the line there.
Six cats are really not that much different than five cats... You hardly notice if you are tripping over five or six cats... After three, it's all the same.
