Happiness is... new P.J. Harvey, Skinny Puppy and Sonic Youth CDs

Who woulda thunk that Skinny would ever be back?

is the new stuff any good? Skinny Puppy kinda sucked toward the end, I thought.

Sonic Youth's been in a lull, too. Is the new cd worth getting?

2. I just picked them up and I'm on the second listening to SP's

"The Greater Wrong of the Right".

Hmmmm...it's close to being a combo of "The Process" and "Too Dark Park". More music than sound experimentation. I like it so far, but keep in mind that it's still early.

I haven't listened to the other two yet.

3. I'm amazed at the resillience of Sonic Youth...

...more than Skinny Puppy. PJ Harvey's always gonna be cool, even if she tries not to be (BTW... did you catch Polly on Late Night w/ Conan a few nights ago?)

One of the best things about Summer is the sudden flood of new cds that come out for Summer touring season.

Next week we also get Ministry's Anti-Bush CD. (Each song starts with a "W" ;-) )

5. Time for the new Sonic Youth

First song is rather interesting...it sounds like it could have come from the Goo/Sister days, but with a bit more of a mix sound from the "Dirty" cd.

6. Interesting...the first song added a bit of "anti" Diamond Sea music to

end. Instead of going out in a mellow trip, this one went out in a angry buzz.

7. Been curious about Skinny Puppy's new one

I loved rabies and too dark park, but their other stuff is hit or miss depending on my mood.

Can't wait for the new Ministry though! :)

8. I'd say take a risk on the new SP when you buy the new Ministry

Upon further thought, just like the current Sonic Youth CD I'm listening to and posting on, it seems to have influences from each period of their careers. Both SY and SP have been around for quite some time when it comes to bands. To me, both of SY and SP's new CDs seem to be gathering points. Both bands are about to change again...you can tell it from these two cds...but before they do, they have to bring all the good from the past to the NOW.

10. I just went out and bought two of these.........

I got the PJ Harvey and Sonic Youth. I also got the new Sonic Youth DVD which has tons of stuff on it. I am listening to PJ Harvey as I type, love it thus far. Have not listened to the Sonic Youth yet, that will be next.

15. The new SY CD

shows all of the band's sides, from each period, and each state-of-mind. Unless you love all the roads that SY have taken in the past then you won't like it 100%. But, if you're someone like me--who has grown to understand and appreciate each stage of their development over 20 plus Cd's--you'll dive into the CD like a bowl of pudding--it's that SWEET.

That is weird. None of the first day bands are playing. Wonder what the one day deal is, it appears to be the only date like that on the tour. Weird.
