2. Supersize Me
(Documentary about a guy who, as an experiment, eats only at McDonalds for a month.) Not bad, but rather like watered-down Michael Moore. Very careful not piss anyone off, told the audience what it wanted to hear -- that is, that all the Americans who wouldn't come to watch the movie are fat and gross, and you, dear audience members, are cool and health-conscious like me. That's the harsh way of looking at it, but it was also funny and of course convincing. A feel good movie for lefties and health nuts.

The book "Fast Food Nation" was more informative.

3. Harry Potter (the third movie whatever it's called)
I took my eight year old daughter lol (it wouldn't have been my first choice)

It wasn't bad...a little long, but all around a pretty good movie.

The reviewers have been blathering on about how it is too "scary" and "dark" for kids under 12 and as per usual they are full of crap.

It's not that "dark" and it's not that "scary"--it has few moments where you kind of jump in your seat, but I think any kid over 5 will adjust and not become an ax murderer or be scarred for life if they see it!

14. my son is 8
He was a little scared by the Marge thing.. and the dementor scenes were a little creepy. But since he's seen the LOTR movies several times each, it wasn't a big deal. I thought HP III was great, moodier and more atmospheric in a way that matched the complexity of the book. Impressive.

4. Saved!
Good stuff. Mandy Moore actually has some talent. I have to respect anybody who does a covers album with Todd Rundgren, Carole King and XTC tunes on it.

6. I saw Chronicles of Riddick yesterday
And I thought I would hate it (my friend wanted to see it and I am not a Vin Diesel fan) but it was surprisingly good. It had some good action scenes and one really humorous line that I liked that Vin diesel said in one of those tough guy meets thugs moments. Overall it was entertaining.

10. No, to be honest I really didn't folllow the plot
that closely, it was kinda confusing and I think they overdid all the court intrigue stuff. I just enjoyed it mainly for the action and some of the set design ( it reminded me of 'Stargate' with an Egyptian like motif) and some of the throwaway lines Riddick used.

9. The Prisoner of Azkaban (spoilers)
If you are a fan of the books, go in with an open mind, as they had to cut a lot of stuff out.

The film itself is just great. The kids are quite good actors and seem to be doing well with the development of their characters. Chris Columbus’s films were more kiddy . This film is more adult and a little darker. The other two films had a Disneyish quality with bright colors with lots of sunshine . You know like you expect to see Tinkerbell flying around. Where as this one is filmed with a darker look and feel about it. Lots of rain and thunder.

While the creatures in the first two movies were laughable. In this one they are mostly believable especially Buckbeak. When the Dementors first come on the train it was a bit scary. It didn't help that the theatre was freezing cold either.

Gambone's Dumbledore wasn't as much of a shock as I thought it might be. One part that was a shock is Flitwick. I couldn't tell if they were turning him into Hitler or Chaplin. Can't believe how big Tom Felton has gotten.

Oh if you think you know were things like the Whomping Willow is are where Hagrid hut is located think again. They also have changed the castle grounds and the neighborhood around it. They have the neatest bridge and have also added some ruins.

One of the best lines of the movie right after the Buckbeak incident is when Dumbledore says to Hagrid that “he could use a cup of tea or a small brandy” to which Hagrid says “ you’ll find no small cups in this house”.

13. Yes, that's what I watched yesterday
I loved the twist with the going back in time thing at the end...that was a little deep for kids to understand but was a nice diversion for me.

The new scenery in this third film was awesome and being the old fart that I am I was reminded of the old Zeppelin movie "The song remains the same" during parts of it (I have no idea why...maybe I am so old I have the Reagan syndrome happening lol)

16. The Stepford Wives
I liked it, good story, nicely paced. Nicole is luscious, as always. There was a trailer for A Series of Unfortunate Events; I didn't know Jim Carrey was doing multiple roles. It looks appropriately creepy.

17. The notebook
I love the book and the movie definitely did it justice. I was crying my eyes out towards the end and magic rat ran out as soon as the credits started so no one could see he was tearing up too. Please feel free to tease him about this.
