Cleaning a flat panel monitor

Can I use a windex-like multi-surface cleaner? Or do I have to get something special?

The manual doesn't say.

1. Something special.

Glass and plastic are not the same.

If it will dissolve plastic, don't use it. If it says don't use on plastic, definitely don't use it.

Anyone selling LCD screens will sell the proper cleaners.

2. I Use A Special Screen Cleaner

Alcohol free and anti-static.

3. Do NOT use windex or the like . . .

It will screw up the anti-glare coating on the screen and you will end up with permanent streaks.

Any office supply store will have cleaning fluid specifically for cleaning LCD monitors and the like. In the alternative, I've used cleaning fluid designed for high-end sunglasses, it works just as well.

4. Have you tried eyeglass cleaner?

We use it with the cloth the cleanser came with to clean DVD's we get from the rental place. Non abrasive, could be an option.
