Dumb question - do portable CD players require headphones?
I realize I am woefully ignorant here, and I did try to ask this question earlier this weekend, but didn't get a response that answered that question.

I am trying to buy a portable CD player for a friend so he can play CDs in his car while traveling but not have to use headphones. I have looked up portable CD players on line but they don't explain whether they have external audio devices, or just require use of the headphones which are always prominently displayed.

Any info or suggestions most welcome...thanks from an audio dummy.

1. I have a portable cd player and plug it into the car
I have a cassette player in the car so I need two things: a casette thing that gives it sound and a thing that plugs into the lighter to give it power. Not sure what you need. Best thing to do is go to thw shop and ask them. Sorry don't know the technical words.:)

The car adapter kit is just a device that looks like a cassette
that plugs into the cassette player in any car the sound is then transmitted Thru the car stereo No Need for headphones hope this helps.

3. They make an adaptor
that connects the portable CD player into the car's tape deck. If you want something with its own speakers it will be bigger than the sandwich sized one I think you're referring to.

4. The CD should be played on the stereo system on the car...

If he is driving, he should not be wearing headphones. Consider changing the stereo in his car. New ones are relatively cheap.
