We're going to crate train Bailey... |
|
He's been getting a bit too rambunctious with the cats lately.
Anyone have any good suggestions on how to crate train?

1. If you can find flush_bush, you might ask him. |
|
His dog Abbey is crate trained. She goes right to her crate when asked. Very obedient.

2. Well, Bailey and obedient aren't going together so well... |
|
He's sweet as pie when he wants to be but listening isn't his strong suit.

3. I've crate trained two dogs. |
|
Don't use the crate as a punishment because they'll end up hating it.
If done properly they'll come to like the crate and regard it as their 'cave'.

5. One of my cats likes the |

"Brat Cave" and she'll go in to sleep every once in awhile. I never think to look for her there and so usually end up panicked looking all over for her.

leave a collar on when you put your dog in the crate !!!
if the crate is very large for a small puppy, try to block off the back half with something safe ... a cardboard box works well until the pup figures out it's really a toy ...
we added a small, soft piece of carpeting to the bottom of the crate just for comfort ...
crate training can be an effective tool in housebreaking ...

10. According to everything I've read... |
|
Dogs become attached to it and, after training is complete, it's suggested that you just take the door off as it becomes the pups 'haven'.
