1) If any of the other boards I've posted on are any indication, starting a thread on DU would be a VERY bad idea.

It was actually posted by someone else with 1000+ posts. It got exactly one response. I then kicked it and it then received no further responses. Maybe it left everyone speechless, or replies weren't needed, or maybe everyone was hoping the induction order would go away. I have started a total of one thread, something about buying a cloned cat for $1.5 million. I was surprised that it got so many responses (15).

17. The real significant of Reagan for the Republican Party

I wrote what I thought was a tidy little post about how the Republicans are freaking out over Reagan because he was the only recent Republican president who had the appearance of appealing to a popular coalition rather than blatantly governing on behalf of the rich.

I didn't expect a lot of response, but I did think I'd get a couple of replies, maybe as many as half a dozen. Nada. Sank without a trace.
