New York--Air America, already in financial turmoil, has once again had a change in personal. Mark Walsh, Chief Executive of the company announced that Cincinnati radio news legend, Les Nessman, will begin his role as 'News Director, Weather Chief, and Information Distribution Consultant".
Nessman has worked for Southern Ohios' WKRP for over twenty-five years. He began as news director of the FM station in 1977, and has won five 'Golden Buckeye News Hawk" awards, and two AG journalism related honors, the 'Silver Sow' and the 'Silver Soybean'.
Nessman was a surprising choice to some who observe the radio industry.
Richard Sanders, long time friend of Nessman, hopes he gets paid.
"I would hate to see him get all bally-hoo'd up and excited at the possibility of getting an office with a real door and get into a contract he can't get out of"
The WKRP veteran is best known for creating the "Great Communist Invasion of 1981" during an outbreak of severe weather. He also was responsible for the deaths of eleven turkeys at a Cincinnati shopping mall during a Thanksgiving promotion.
