I just drank a beer for the first time ever
And if it's your favorite drink, God love you. Enjoy. Like what you like. I'm not flaming it or you. But I have to say - idoan geddit. I have no idea why people drink that stuff. Am I the only one?

1. It's way too bitter for me, that's why I drink hard liquor.
But I can understand sitting down and eating a pizza and drinking a beer, one that's not incredibly bitter. It's like having wine with your meal, except substantially more blue collar.

2. Maybe 7:25 a.m. might have something to do with it?
I mean, "Beer, it's not just for breakfast anymore" is a favourite motto of mine...

10. How about "Beer...it's what's for dinner."
One of my mottos.

4. Depends what kind
I got hooked on to Killians Irish Red by my friends. It's not as bitter.

It's tough now for me to drink the cheaper beers like Labbats, Bud, etc.

BTW, what kind did you have? If what you had was bad, just try a Guinnes...It's like motor oil -- Nasty, disgusting, VERY bitter stuff. :puke: I have no clue why many people like that stuff!

8. Drink politically correctlly!
Killian's is owned by Coor's beer, the right most of the rightwingers.

I go for microbrews usually.

All brews are not the same, some are very bitter, some sweet. It takes some experimenting to find the kind and brew you like. But dang, it's worth it. Think I'll pop open one right now!

24. D'oh
and I was happy that I was never drinking Coors (I know that the Coors are rightwingers).

Thanks for letting me know that. I don't like to unecessarily spend money on RW products...

Have any alternative suggestions to Killians?

18. it's not THAT bad
it is intense though. We used to call it turnip concentrate in college. That is funny, a friend of mine was just talking about "Irish car bombs" yesterday. ( kind of a strange name for a drink, and I am even Irish) I had never heard of that, and the drink actually sounded pretty good.

11. Its not beer if you can see through it.
Have a real beer. Find a local micro-brew porter.

13. The first sip is usually the best one.
After that, it loses its appeal for me.

Give me a good Merlot or a Sauvignon Blanc anytime.

14. It's an acquired taste, just like Scotch
Try a Shandy: half beer, half ginger ale. Then gradually cut back on the ginger ale. Or else just don't bother. It's not a big deal whether you drink beer or not, but if you do learn to, do yourself a favor and stay away from the mass-consumption weasel-piss beer.

15. What kind was it?
Let me guess. Bud? Miller? Busch?

Those were my first experiences with beer too, and it was years before I could appreciate it by drinking the real stuff.

20. I used to hate it too...
But that's because my first beers were flavorless crap.

Saying you don't like beer after drinking one brew is like saying you hate veggies after only eating broccoli. The degrees of bitterness, sweetness, aftertaste, carbonation, and alcohol volume vary intensely between styles and brewers.

Don't give up on it yet.

23. As I mentioned in another post several days ago,
I have NEVER had a beer, nor do I intend to. I don't drink at all to begin with, but if I did, beer would be my very last choice. It STINKS! How can people drink it??? I shall never understand!

but it all sucked. Don't even like to be in the same room with it cuz the smell is so revolting.

of money and then it was keystone. but being from texas, tecate, dos equis and corona's are standard fares. of the mexican imports though, i prefer tecate and sol. but you can't drink it from a can. must be from a bottle. maybe it's my imagination, but it tastes better to me.
