I take little white pills
And my eyes are open wide,
The full moon's comin in sight
I can dodge the scales all right
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight

31. "Six Days on the Road" hands down...
...unless you can count "King of the Road" which I think is about a former trucker turned hobo.

Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed.

11. ...warped by the rain, driven by the snow...
I've been warped by the rain, driven by the snow
Drunk and dirty, don't you know, and I'm still...willin'.

And I was out on the road, late at night,
Seen my pretty Alice, in every headlight...Alice.
Dallas Alice.

And I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari,
Tahachapi to Tournapaw.
I've driven every kind of rig that's ever been made.
Driven the backroads so I wouldn't get weighed.

And if you give me...
Weed, whites and wine.
And you show me a sign.
I'll be willin', to be movin'

Kicked by the wind, dropped by the sleet,
Had my head stove in, but I'm still on my feet, and I'm still,
In a whole lot of trouble.

Smuggled some smokes, some folks from Mexico,
Baked by the sun, every time I go to Mexico
And I'm still...

And I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari,
Tahachapi to Tournapaw.
I've driven every kind of rig that's ever been made.
Driven the backroads so I wouldn't get weighed.

And if you give me...
Weed, whites and wine.
And you show me a sign.
I'll be willin', to be movin'

9. Anyone remember Dick Curless' "A Tombstone Every Mile?"
From 1965, if memory serves:

It's a stretch of road up north in Maine
that's never, ever, ever seen a smile.
If they buried all the truckers lost in those woods,
there'd be a tombstone every mile.

20. I'm surprised no one has said this
"East bound and down" by Jerry Reed

East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.
We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I'm east bound, just watch ol' "Bandit" run.

the commander.

Commander Cody has lots of truck driving songs:
Semi Truck - "I took 3 bennies and my semi truck won't start"
Eighteen Wheels
Mama Hated Diesels
and
Looking at the World thorugh a Windshield

are some titles.

27. Papa Loved Mama
"Papa Loved Mama"

Papa drove a truck nearly all his life
You know it drove mama crazy being a trucker's wife
The part she couldn't handle was the being alone
I guess she needed more to hold than just a telephone
Papa called Mama each and every night
Just to ask her how she was and if us kids were alright
Mama would wait for that call to come in
When Daddy'd hang up she was gone again

Mama was a looker
Lord, how she shined
Papa was a good'n
But the jealous kind
Papa loved Mama
Mama loved men
Mama's in the graveyard
Papa's in the pen

Well it was bound to happen and one night it did
Papa came home and it was just us kids
He had a dozen roses and a bottle of wine
If he was lookin' to surprise us he was doin' fine
I heard him cry for Mama up and own the hall
Then I heard a bottle break against the bedroom wall
That old diesel engine made an eerie sound
When Papa fired it up and headed into town

Well the picture in the paper showed the scene real well
Papa's rig was buried in the local motel
The desk clerk said he saw it all real clear
He never hit the brakes and he was shifting gears

Mama was a looker
Lord, how she shined
Papa was a good'n
But the jealous kind
Papa loved Mama
Mama loved men
Mama's in the graveyard
Papa's in the pen

29. Piss bottle man...Mike Watt/Evan Dando.
It is a great song. It is basically about a guy who is a driver, and his Dad was a driver, and how they both use a 'piss bottle'. One funny thing I heard about the song. It was written by Mike Watt. Evan Dando of the lemonheads was supposed to sing it, but he initially had problems with the title, and didn't want to sing/say piss bottle...Kevin.
