The Bride Typed "I Do"

DURANGO, CO-June 14, 2004 — It's a marriage made in – cyberspace. GIs Shadow Evans and Rick Everton tied the knot the other day – via the Internet.

The bride, Staff Sergeant Evans was north of Baghdad, serving with a National Guard unit. The groom, Sergeant Everton was in Durango, Colorado.

The state is one of just three that allows someone to stand in for the bride or groom. A local judge did the honors, while the bride and groom watched each other on computer monitors.

The couple planned to marry in August 2005, but decided to move up the date when they got their orders. Everton will be deployed to Iraq soon.
