The fuckers don't want anything to do with Massachusetts.

6. I've had State Farm for 18 years...
never had an issue with them. I've had several claims and they paid promptly and didn't drop me. The accident that was my fault affected my rate slightly for two years, but now it's back to where it was.

I've heard so many horror stories about other insurance companies but haven't had that experience at all.

10. Stae Farm was cheaper than all of them...

Maybe because I've been with the same agent for 10 years? I dunno, but after the last across-the-board rate hike (they got everybody in Indiana, even my dad who pays less for his Jag than I do for my Ranger) I went shopping, and everybody was at least $400 more a year than SF. I didn't price Progressive. I have a thing about insurance companies that wanna run a TRW report on me before giving me a quote. I'm buying insurance, damn it, not applying for a mortgage! (nothing on the driving record since 1990, but I filed Ch.7 3 years ago, so somehow that makes me a shitty driver...)

4. Not me.
Progressive was way better in price of premium and service. But they really ding you if you've got a kid who's just getting their learner's permit.

12. i will NEVER use progressive. they SUCK
i had a modest stake in a startup, and we had a huge policy with progressive. after taking a few million dollars in premiums, they canceled the policy retroactively back to the beginning of the deal AND refused to refund the premiums. both actions were blatant violations of the contract.

but, property and casualty policies can be a bit confusing, and their lawyers succeeded in bamboozling the jury. the judge all but called the verdict indefensible, but had no choice but to abide by it.

the fact that they even TRIED to go to court instead of doing ANYTHING remotely reasonable is reason enough to never do business with these people ever again.

ethics in business actually are important, and progressive, imho, has none.

8. Well you really should not expect much if we are talking about a bunch
...of money. A bunch of carrots is about six, you know the kind with the leaves still on. A bunch of radishes also with leaves, well that would be about six or seven. What else really comes in bunches any more? Everything is pretty much measured out in pounds, ounces, dozens, etc. So how much is a bunch of money? My guess is not much at all. It's really a bunch of baloney IMHO.

9. geico is a warren buffett company
it's owned by buffett's berkshire hathaway.
solid company with a great reputation.

mrs. unblock works for a competitor, so of course our insurance is through them, but i've heard nothing but good things about geico.

come to think of it, geico doesn't offer auto insurance in nj either....

13. I use to live in NJ...
And car insurance is terribly expensive there. They have their own set of bureacratic nightmares so many companies don't do business there..

15. we found a great auto insurance company
mrs unblock works there. it's a mutual insurance company, and your employer has to be a member. and to get into the top tier, you must have a perfect driving record, including NO tickets.

we now pay barely 50% of what we used to pay state farm.

11. for 20 years now
I have had only one accident, and it was after 7 years of being insured by them. Top notch service, always friendly and professional..... they didn't drop me, so I suspect when they do drop people, it must be because they suck as drivers (too many speeding tickets, not paying the premiums on time...)

A friend of mine tried Progressive and really regretted it when a dumb ass teen hot his truck, and they took far, far too long to reach a settlment. Cheaper than GEICO maybe, but you get what you pay for sometimes.

I will add that once upon a time, GEICO wasn't even available to mortals like yourselves. They went civilian in the late 80's. I started with them back in the day. Suckers.

14. had geico for several years
really like them- we usually miss payments or send in to late and have no trouble getting back insurance coverage. customer service is very good and always are helpful in getting our insurance "up to date". we also have insured ,uninsured and reinsured different cars in the last few years and there has been no problems and no rate increase..
plus they have some of the best commercials on tv

16. I did, quite a lot.
Switched both the bike and the car from Progressive, and saved about 30%. Plus, Geico knows a lot more about motorcycle insurance than Progressive did.

Never have had a problem, but no claims yet, either (thank heaven).

17. On the other end
I was in a crash where the Geico person at fault 'totaled' our vehicle and I'm happy to have this opportunity to say: FUCK Geico. I HATE this company. They put my family through months and months of bullshit hell.

And it's not just "monitary" issues. We had to retain a lawyer. And don't even get me started about the lasting injuries.

I HATE insurance companies, and I HATE Geikkko most.

18. I love Geico.
Granted, I've never had a claim, so I don't know what transpires after that, but I've been with them for years, and everything has gone smoothly. They've never once screwed up my policy or billing, and their customer service has been nothing short of awesome. I pay about $450 a year for a car AND a truck, in San Diego. That's as good as it gets.
