Did anyone here learn English as a second language?
If so, what did English sound like to you before you learned it? Did it have a pleasant sound or not? What were the sounds that jumped out at you?

Also, was it difficult to learn? So many things in English seem to me like they'd be very confusing if you were just learning the language.

1. I did
But mom spoke English already, so it always sounded pleasant, I guess. Learned English at age five or six. Just by talking.

2. Yup
Dutch is my native tongue.
Just learned English by watching American/English programs on the Dutch and Flemish channels (In The Netherlands and Flanders it's a standard to subtitle foreign language programs). I understood it quite good by the time I was six or seven years of age and I never had much problems with it in class.
That's a main reason why I hate dubbing, which is the standard for French and German channels.

although english is the language with the most complex set of exceptions, it is pretty easy to learn because it is ubiquitous.
