CRAP!!! Williams Sonoma gives ALL to Repubs!!!!
Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 10:59 AM by fudge stripe cookays
Sadness has just overcome my soul, and I feel all ukky inside. As someone who adores cooking, and lives to create elaborate dinners, I used to love this store. Just checked open secrets...you guessed it. 100% to Repubs! 100%!!! I'll be firing off a letter to them in the next few days, and never stepping inside one again. And I'm canceling my catalog subscription.

http://www.opensecrets.org/industries/contrib.asp?Ind=N03&Cycle=2004

Anyone from Texas? Beall's just got added to my shit list at 98% Repub.

A few more I just found out about.

Repubs:
Circuit City

Dems:
Intermission, Ltd
Paul's TV and Video
(neither of which we have down here)

I thought Dayton Hudson was majority Dem, but they've got Target as 19 Dem/83 Repub. Which makes me sad. But in other news, The Gap has lessened their contributions to Repubs since last cycle and are almost even in their distribution now.

The May Co (Foley's and many other department stores) is also disappointing at 84 Repub/15 Dem.

Just keeping folks up to date.

1. Overpriced kitchen stuff
We have that store along with The Pottery Barn at the Christiana Mall. Overpriced stuff is all I can say.

4. Here's some places....
How much were you spending?

Here's one:

And I've actually found it at places like Marshall's or TJMaxx at the gourmet food section in the back.

3. I don't think Target is Dayton/Hudson anymore.
Back when they were, they gave more to Democrats.

But, I figure most national and multi-national corporations give more to the Republicans, so I try to shop locally when possible. But hell, the local owner might be a Republican, too.

6. More or less.
I had a busy day getting my lawn under control and other new house crapola. I might have been able to make Saturday's fun, but I was exhausted.

8. Target Corp is trying to sell Marshall Field's
(including the previous Dayton/Hudson stores) to Federated (parent company of most of the other department store chains).

Sad, isn't it, when the child shuns the parents.

11. I do think Target/Marshall Fields are still donating to liberal causes
At least, I know conservatives who still boycott them for giving to Planned Parenthood.

The highly educated are more likely to vote for Democrats than Republicans. That Sonoma thinks as you do is its loss, but you ought not be buying into that distortion.

14. True! I met a lady last year...
at the redistricting rally in Austin that fell into step with us as we were walking, and she yelled,

"These guys think that anyone with money is a Republican. Well, I can tell you it's NOT TRUE!!"

That made me feel good.

9. I can't afford W-S anyway
most of what they sell is way, way over-priced.

I get better deals at my local gourmet emporium, http://www.southernseason.com/">A Southern Season. Plus, they have Morimoto!
