Foreign policy or national defense experience is a plus, too.

But that's just me.

Sincerely yours,
Sen. John Kerry

14. Me too
Specifically, I like nerds. (It's rare that I am attracted to someone who meets traditional American standards of beauty anyway.)

I'm married, so not looking, but if I was dating again, intelligence would be a "must." I dated far too many stupid people in high school to waste my time as an adult. The "duh" look is unbecoming. (If you're trying to impress me, but you don't know what the hell I'm talking about, ask! Don't just stare! I'll do the same with you!)

Yeah, I'm an intellectual snob, I know.

33. So, are you saying that Vince is, um, intellectually-challenged?
I'm married, so not looking, but if I was dating again, intelligence would be a "must."

That sentence makes it seem as though it wasn't a "must" when you got married THIS time. ;-) Then again, I've seen his posts...I've got your sainthood application around here somewhere.

;-)
Perhaps my original post was poorly phrased.

Intelligence would be a "must" if I was dating. It's a "must" now, too. It wasn't a must when I was in high school, and I probably made many bad decisions as a result of surrounding myself with idiots.

But I have a feeling that if I didn't caveat my original with "I'm married so I'm just talkin'" I'd get someone else jumping to a different conclusion...
Sigh. Can't win...

On edit: Typos. Intelligence has nothing to do with typing skills, right?

24. Brains, warm heart, chemistry
There are some men that may be smart and handsome, but there's no chemistry. Chemistry is undefinable, but I've known it when it's there. All too rarely do I run into a man who to me, is the total package. In the meantime, life is what it is.

29. None of the above
Temprament and personality have to come first, above anything else.
If a woman is snotty and argumentative and has no regard for the feelings of others then it doesn't make a bit of difference how smart or beautiful she is.

38. In the words of known pervert, Howard Stern,
If you see a woman who looks so great that you drool uncontrolably just glancing at her, remember. Somewhere there is a man who she was with once and is now sick of her.

OK, if you want a "sex toy" you can put away when you are done with her, fine. A bimbo would be perfect. If you want a relationship however, sooner or later you're gonna have to do something beside boinking....

48. I'm married but brains
After dating breaking up with my first serious boyfriend when I was 16, I swore that I would nevere date a dumb guy again. Most decent looking dumb guys didn't like me anyway. They were put off by a smart woman.
Really though, there are few guys that I have thought were really hot before I knew them. There are few guys within 10 years of my age that completely scare me away either. All people that I like in any fashion of the word looks much more attractive than when I first saw them. Anyone who I really dislike looks much less attractive than when I first saw them. These things work together.
I don't really like all smart people. Some of them are mean jerks or full of themselves just like people with average or below intelligence.

50. I voted both
For a potential mate, they need to be a mix of both beauty and brains.
If that person is just a quick fling, then I guess it's just beauty. If I'm having a non-sexual fling with that person than it's just brains.

But seriously, my mate should have beauty, brains, sense of humor, some same qualities, good chemistry with me and a fun-loving disposition.
