Why is Barney ALWAYS trying to get the heck away from GWB?
Running just as fast as his little legs can carry him

5. LOL, the loser can't even get his dawg to follow him
I have never seen Bush* with his dog. The shots I've seen have either been the dawg running away or the idiot in Chief dropping the poor thing.

4. Poor Barney ... not much "love" in that family
I don't see much energy or bonding between GWB and Barney. They always seem to have to push Barney on GWB upon arrival. (for the cameras?) Whether I've left the house for one hour or all day, my little English pointer mix is demonstrative and seemingly thrilled to see me. I don't see this at the Barney-GWB photo ops. It's an unconvincing "Lassie Show" type snippet.

Barney is probably close to one of the staff. No way GWB is Barney's #1 human. ;)

7. Barney is only a prop anyway...
Notice how they throw in the dog anytime Smirk is walking from the helicopter?
I think it is because then Smirky pretends to play with Barney, and that distracts attention from the fact that he isn't walking very straight probably because he is drunk.
There just doesn't seem to be any recognition of Smirky by the dog.

11. Now, now ...

I've seen some footage of Bush with his dogs and he seems to have a genuine k-9 "buddy" relationship with them. I don't think it's a phony prop like Nixon's dog.

Dogs will sometime run away to initiate a game of chase. What Dubabya doesn't understand is that if you chase AFTER him, then he's the alpha.

So while I think that they love each other, I think Barney's the Alpha and Dubaya is the bitch. It's hard to command a nation when you can't even command your dog.

12. I say we make Barney the prez ...
He's just as qualified -- way cuter -- and he won't go chasing after nonexistent WMDs like you-know-who.

I don't think I've seen a pic of Barney coming over to Bush and begging to be picked up. He's probably starting to associate W with being grabbed and held clumsily (and dropped!).

13. Could be ...

It could be that he had a better relationship with his previous dog (Millie's pup). Bush has a childlike demeanor that fits well with dogs. Thats why I don't think they respect him as their "leader". I know I certainly don't.

... why the dogs didn't bother getting off the couch when * conked out while eating that pretzel. Not the pack leader, so "Who cares?"

20. Spot. Poor thing died recently
I agree with your analysis. Dogs need an alpha. Barney must be the alpha since he seems to expect Bush* to chase him. It's impossible to respect a man who would steal an election.

14. According to Barney.
"First Dog vows Revenge"

(Canine Press) WASHINGTON DC - Barney, the loveable "First Dog" is in fear of his saftey and held a press conference on the Front Lawn today to express his outrage with his treatment at the hands of the "president".

"I swear, I'll bite his fuckin' foot of if he gives me half a chance!" the Commander of Kibble said. "He drops me, when he gets drunk he does demeaning things like sniffing my ass, and a few times he's come close to steping on me. He's just an asshole." When asked about allegations involving peanut butter, Barney refused comment but added he is at work on his memoriors, tenativly titled "First Dog, My tortured existance with Bush". "Fala didn't have to go through this shit. Millie didn't, hell even that stupid cat that was here before me leaving cat turds all over was treated better than me." Barney continued.

"I tell you, I know things....things that will make the SOB rue the day he dragged me away from my family. Anyone got a camera? I left a big "surprise" in his chair in his office and I wana get a picture of the look on his stupid inbread face. God, I fuckin' hate him."

23. Because the man is evil, wouldn't you?!!
That poor little dog is smart enough to understand that he is only a prop and that this man does not love him. Whatever happened to Ernie, the six-toed cat, that Bush* pledged allegiance to and said he missed so much during the campaign? He was given away. Barney is no fool. He knows he is expandable when photo-ops are over, poor little guy. We should start looking for rescue homes for the Bush* pets. I just wish that Bush* hadn't named this dog Barney, though I don't blame this cute little dog, after the most perfect dog in the world, my own Barney.

My perfect Barney, the original:

and I resent Bush* for appropriating the name. He was my perfect dog, but I lost him in November of 2002 at age 18. I still miss him so much. I now have Meneken and Sara. I lost my kitty in February.;(
