ARG!!! Anonymous ftp permissions
This is driving me nuts.

in.ftpd will handle anonymous ftp and puts incoming files into a directory. The problem is that they are owned by ftp and readable by others. The ftp account is not to be used to regular users. So how do you get rid of them?

I've tried every combination of permissions on the in.coming directory I can think of including the sticky and sgid bits.

Apparently linux has an ftpaccess file that may take care of some fo that, but Solaris doesn't.

:wtf:

1. Well
first off, and I hope you don't consider it too off-topic, have you considered proftpd? I've used it on Solaris with success, it is my preferred ftp daemon, it is much more highly configurable than in.ftpd.

Ok, you want anonymous users to upload into this directory. And you are asking: So how do you get rid of them?

Well the superuser can just type rm *.*, so you must mean you want someone else to delete them? I'm not understanding the context of the question, methinks...
