I took a lot of flack for this in high school, but I can not stand the Beastie Boys. IMO, they are higly overrated.

like The Jack of Hearts, Maggies Farm and Tangled Up in Blue, just to name some of my favorites. Now I'm showing my age.... it's still hard not to think of him as iconic. Granted some of what he does can be tedious, but the early albums and some of the later ones are pretty amazing. Highway 61, The Basement Tapes, Bringing It All Back Home, Blood on the Tracks, and then Oh Mercy and Time Out of Mind.

..especially with all the squeaky clean singers of today. And emotional in its own way. But Bob's an acquired taste. I'm a definite fan.

5. Beach Boys

I know they're non-existent now and Brian Wilson (ya da ya da ya da) was such a prolific songwriter, but they have always been the most grating, whiny, annoying thing I've ever heard. :scared:

J-Lo, Hilary Duff, Jet, Creed, boy bands, newer Mariah Carey, Jessica Simpson, Michael Bolton, The Calling, Ben Jalen, Bjork, most American Idol stars for lack of improvement capabilities (and some are bad,) Aaron Carter, Chris Cagle, Hoobastank, Slipknot and other nu-metal, New Found Glory, Yeah Yeah Yeahs (they are on the top 100 album chart,) Ja Rule and more rappers, etc.

This subject is just as subjective as sexiness and beauty, so I won't flame you or anyone else. I think the Beastie Boys are good for rap (though 5 stars from Rolling Stone?? - they've gotten a little too easy with that rating.) And I think the Beach Boys have great harmonies and are a fave.

Clapton's career has turned into a big dive into the recycling bin - all he does is rerecord ancient stuff and gets his ass kissed left and right.

I heard a recording he did of a Dylan song on the radio recently. It sounded exactly like every other song Clapton's done in the last 15 years. The dude should have retired after the Yardbirds.

I will make an exception for 'Tears in Heaven', that's a poignant tune.

more's the pity. I know nothing about the Beastie Boys and doubt that they would interest me in the least. If you don't like them, either, check out the music of The Beach Boys, which defies all ages. I have seen the Beach Boys many times in concert, though two out of three of the Wilson brothers are dead. What a pity, but the Beach Boys will never die. I can't have the same hope for the Beastie Boys, sorry.:shrug:

...on the Beastie Boys. They seem alright and I respect their political views but have never understood the allure of their music.

I tend to like at least one song by almost every major group/artist, but there are a handful of others I don't "get" the allure of. I like very little by AC/DC, perhaps largely because of the lead singer(s)'s voice(s).

I don't care for much of anything by a number of the major rap-rock groups, particularly the biggies from when I was in high school, Korn and Limp Bizkit.

I think Radiohead were great pre-OK Computer and don't understand how they suddenly became "geniuses" with their third album... too deep for me I guess.

I don't care for a number of pop-punk bands (New Found Glory, Simple Plan, Story of the Year) and could pretty much do without hearing any of today's "party" hip-hop/rap/whatever-it's-called... (I'm thinking "In Da Club" and others of that ilk). Beyonce Knowles and Usher are two artists I have yet to like a song by.

OK, so maybe I like less music than I thought... haha These were just a few off the top of my head and from looking at what some others had listed...
