Poll question: theme from good the bad and the ugly - is a man song? True or false
You gotta be a man to appreciate it. It's all about cowboys, being dirty, riding the range, shootin' people...you know "Guy stuff"

1. Similarly, I've yet to meet a woman who liked "Unforgiven."
You know, the Best Picture winner for 1992? Every man I know who saw that film liked it a lot, and every woman I know who saw the film didn't care for it. Go figure.

2. Women don't have the same love for retribution that men have.
That's the best about Clint. It starts with him getting fucked over, then the rest of the movie is him getting revenge.

5. My wife liked it. She also likes Kung Foo films. I don't
I loved Unforgiven, though, because of the relentless darkness of the film, not because of the cowboy retribution theme. Reminded me of Heart of Darkness.

Gender stereotypes are so strange to me. They never fit me or the people I know. I wonder how often people try to force themselves to fit these stereotypes because they feel they should.

13.  I did

I loved Unforgiven. Went by myself to see it at a theater that had the best wide screen around. But, I also loved Sam Raimi's "The Quick and the Dead" with Sharon Stone. Not because of Sharon Stone, although she was better in that movie than any I have seen her in, but because Sam Raimi made about 10 different gun-fights cinematically amazing. It was a revenge movie big time. I loved the ending when you find out why Stone's character wants to kill Gene Hackman's so badly.

Oh, sorry. We're talking about Unforgiven. Well, I loved every minute of it. I tolerated the cruel treatment of the women because that's just how it was. Kept my mind focused on Clint all the way.

Also, I loved the song mentioned and it does make me think of cowboys and horses.

Another revenge movie I like a whole lot was Kill Bill Vol 1&2. And I hate gratuitous violence. Kill Bill was so over the top with it that it was cartoonish. Suppose guys like to watch guys kick ass and girls like to watch girls kick ass.

Sorry, got off the subject.

8. she certainly is
we sometimes have WHOLE conversations just drawing quotes from that movie...

I usually end up quoting Tuco, she Blondie, and it always devolves into hysterical laughter. It's a good way to turn arguments into something silly.

"Whoever tries to kill Tuco but leaves him alive... he knows nothing about Tuco."

And everytime I get caught sneaking up on her she says "your spurs"...

Friggin kills me everytime.

9. Um, no, that's not where I was going, really.
More of trying to figure out what a man song was, I guess.

12. Sorry, missed the quote. My bad.
I'm lousy at movie quotes, or anything else requiring memory.

11. There is only one woman in that whole movie...
...and in her only scene, she's getting slapped around.
