Bait? an RIAA plant?
Sheesh, a little paranoia around here?
Actually, looking back, I can understand why you'd think that the RIAA would do that, so I don't fault you for that. Bait however it's not. I dont do that.
Read all my other posts on here, I don't have alot but I do have close to 40, and just now did I touch on the downloading subject. I know you don't make it to 40 posts on DU having somewhat conservative views unless you keep a low-pro. That's why I hang in the lounge mostly, because I like the DU site.
I bet alot of the people who would slam me for downloading have drives full of MP3s.
I don't feel the slightest pang of guilt for downloading music. Maybe that makes me a bad person, I dont know. But I really could care less. I can't even imagine how much money I've spent on music in my life.. thousands...all the way back since my young teen/death metal days, punk and alternative, having purchased over 600 breakbeat and trance vinyl records that took me the last 7 years to collect... not to mention all the different shows/raves, everything else....
BTW, if I download it a week before it comes out, and then buy it on release date, is that still theft?
IMO, the word "theft" means to deprive somebody of something.. meaning they don't have it anymore. Downloading is NOT like walking into a store and putting a CD in your pocket and leaving or stealing from someones house.. in those cases YOU have it and THEY dont have it anymore.
Downloading maybe be copyright infringement, but if I download it.. the person I have downloaded it from still has it. It's duplication/dilution of supply.
The only things I am depriving anyone of is the record company and the artist of their money.
The record companies I could give two shits about, the artist, well if I like the artist alot I will always buy the CD's, T-Shirts, concert tickets, etc. And if I don't like it enough to buy, it's not my fault their music isn't in my taste. If I never would have bought in anyway, but download it, they havent lost anything they are no worse for wear.
Look, I'm not going to really honestly try and justify it or try to rationalize that downloading music is prim and proper. I'm just going to be frank and straightforward enough to admit that I don't give a crap, really. I have much more important things to worry about than whether P Diddy has 8 DVD players in his Escalade or 9. I can only afford to financially support an artist I really like. I especially could care less about coperate fat cats cooking up the next Britney Spears.
The point of this was that I found 2 songs off this CD and want the rest... I appologize if I offended anyone. I honestly did not intend to.
 rock -n- roll, baby.
