I was just reminded why I don't like most Eagles songs.
Except for the live version of "Hotel California" and their instrumental works.

Their songs are soap operas that run 3-4 minutes. :puke:

11. Yeah. They are great musicians, and have great vocal harmonies,
but most of their lyrics are not world changers.

I like the lead guitar work on some songs, it's tasty and the solos are interestingly constructed.

12. What?? Eagles were a great band
but then I doubt any of you would know the difference between a minor pentatonic and a harmonic minor. I was watching the top 25 guitarist of all-time on VH1 and they had Chuck Berry at number 17!?!?!? Anyone who knows anything about rock music and guitar knows that there are only 3 guitar players....CB,Jimi,and Van Halen...everybody else is just a cheap copy of those three. When each of them came out they took rock music to a new level of musicianship that it hadn't seen up to that time...and everybody tried to copy them...the only true inovators of rock guitar were these three. You can probably throw Yngwie in that group but he hasn't had near the influence of the others but his combination of Rock and Classical is astonishing. It never fails to amaze me how people who know nothing about music feel they are experts.

14. Nonsense
Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, John Cippollina, Steve Howe, Jimmy Page, John Fogerty, Peter Green, Link Wray, Dick Dale, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Greg Sage, Carlos Santana, T.S. McPhee, Jerry Garcia, Al DiMeola, Franco, even Johnny Ramone are just cheap copies of Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen?

I don't know the difference between a minor pentatonic and a harmonic minor...can you link me to a source where Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix or Eddie Van Halen describes the distinction in detail?

Guns 'n' Roses, the one album wonders, were set on self destruct right out of the box, and he has done nothing worth it since, but SLASH RULED!

Briefly.

25. I agree to a piont
But I bet Eddie Van Halen could discuss it easily, as he was a classically trained pianist in Holland(?) before he took up guitar.

24. I would have to add to that threesome -
Dick Dale, Brian May, and George Harrison may not be in the top 5 list of guitarists, but they have styles that are 100% original.

13. I love the Eagles!! So There! ;:op
City girls just seem to find out early
How to open doors with just a smile...

I like the way your sparkling earrings lie
Against you skin so brown...

It's another Tequila Sunrise...

Well, I'm runnin' down the road
Tryin' to loosen my load
Got seven women on my mind.
Two that wanna own me...

You've made me nostalgic. Think I'll go upstairs and root through all my old LPs...

17. Eagles are the greatest American rock group ever
Henley and Frey are the closest we have come to Lennon and McCartney.

Some people are just too young and inexperienced to understand, 1monster.

21. NO!
Arguably, Buck Owens & The Buckaroos. But then, I might be doing a disservice to the Beatles and Rolling Stones by typing that.

23. THEEEYYYYYRRRREEE gonna put me in the MOOvies
They're gonna make a big star out of me...

Did he have any other hits?

My personal way of telling if a song is really country or not:
I'm from Texas, and when I sing or drink, I have a twang. When I sing "Lyin' Eyes," one quickly realizes it for the c/w song that it really is.

The Beatles recorded a few c/w songs; the Eagles recorded a few rock n' roll songs.

Or maybe the better question is: Just how old ARE you, anyway? I only know about buck Owens because I'm a Bealemaniac (albeit a young one)

29. I Love the lyrics and music of "The Last Resort"
So the Eagle's work is not "challenging" or "artsy."

It was mostly fun, memorable songs by guys who could harmonize and solo and none of them were hard to look at.
