Breast Milk Compound Kills Warts

Researchers say a compound in breast milk destroys many skin warts and may hold promise in fighting cervical cancer and other deadly diseases.

In a study of 40 people with skin warts, Swedish researchers found that the breast-milk compound they've named HAMLET kills virally infected cells in warts -- cells that are resistant to conventional treatments.

The findings are published in Thursday's issue of the New England Journal of Medicine.

The researchers hope to start testing the compound soon on women with cervical cancer.
