Speechless Dylan Accepts Honorary Degree

Rock legend Bob Dylan waits on the stage of the University of St Andrews in Scotland, Wednesday, where he received an honorary degree of Doctor of Music from Sir Kenneth Dover, chancellor of the university, left. The American icon, whose hits include "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Mr. Tambourine Man," has only ever accepted one other honorary degree, from Princeton University in 1970.

Wait for it
soon the droves will be here to complain about his voice - next up, someone will bitch about his Vicky's Secret appearance.

Man is still making brilliant music.

12. His is brilliant and will always be appreciated, but....
his songs have a range Luciano Pavarotti would have trouble with. Just exagerating, but the man has a great vocal range and puts the whole thang in most every song. Just try singing one. Love him. He will always be one of the greats.

15. His voice is incredible....
Hello from Germany,
Dylan's voice is absolute incredible. I have to admit that I somehow needed the Byrds and other cover-versions of Dylan's songs to understand, how incredible his composions are. The genius of Dylan is to compose such wonderfull melodies and then to distance himself as the performer from those melodies. It's a bit like what Brecht did in theatre, when he pushed the actors to work against identifying with the figures.
Those who praise Dylan's compositions but critizise him as a singer don't do him justice. It's as if someone would critizise the Beatles for writing good balads but performing them too fast.
Dirk
