Friendly word of advice Re; Viruses

Yesterday my son was playing his spiderman
xbox game he asked if I could find some code cheats
online , which I have done in the past without any
problems . Well as soon as I clicked on the first
link Google found my AVG popup warning activated .

It was nasty and took hours to get rid of .

1. Get a program called...

SafeXP and lock down your OS. Especially something called "msmsgr.exe". They likely shoved a trojan onto your machine. Or a bot.

2. It was...

Right? They install a .cab file called "ATPartners.cab" which undoubtedly holds whatever nasty.

I run Linux, so it is no danger. I am gonna try to capture it and analyze it.

3. It was called DO.EXE

I think :shrug:

I was able to get it all cleared out but it
was a persistent bugger . Replaced my homepage,
Managed to infect my Temporary files and opened
some programs that had to be end task before I
could run the AVG without it locking up, then I could
locate and remove/heal the infected files .
