Any *Band of Brothers* Fans Here? |
|
As in the WWII series produced by Spielberg & Tom Hanks. I missed it when it premiered on HBO (didn't have HBO at the time), so I've been catching it on THC.
It's very well done, IMO. Does anyone know if the HC version cuts material from the original HBO version? Does the DVD set contain any extra material?
Thanks.

1. I rented all 9 tapes, one after the other, and watched them |
|
over a couple of intense weeks. Fantastic, powerful series.
I've been watching it here and there on THC and I do not believe anything has been cut...

2. My favorite miniseries of all time |
|
I own it, but I haven't seen how the History Channel shows it but I garuntee they probably cut alot of it because the violence was pretty hardcore in alot of parts and the language was at times pretty vulgar.
But overall fantastic documentation of what those guys went through, in my opinion Hanks and Speilberg did a great service to the heroes of Easy Company.

3. It's pretty hardcore on THC...plenty of swearing and body parts. |
|
It's graphic. I wondered if it was cut to fit into TV time slots.

4. Did they show it late at night? |
|
If the show came on after 10, I could believe that the gore was probably kept in place overall, and all cuss words were game except for the "F" word.

6. Saw almost the whole thing on THC |
|
I was mesmerized. They left in some pretty choice cuss words. Showing times varied from 7 or 8pm to 9 or 10 pm.

No commercials cuts or even bad words.
That's why they run about 1h 15min.

Where they liberate a death camp is one of the most heart wrenching scenes I have ever witnessed on film.

11. The scene where Winters runs into 2 SS brigades |
|
That just flat blew me away. All the more amazing because it's true. And the episode where Capt. Speirs is promoted in the field and runs through a German-occupied town and back. Also the taking of several artillery pieces near the beginning. What a great series. Dick Winters is one of the most amazing men who ever lived. The whole company is outstanding.
And they would still be unknown to most people if not for old Ambrose. I'm not a fan, but he did a good thing. And the series goes into much more detail than his book. Best cable miniseries ever.
