And, just for the record, I thought there was quite a bit less of Mr. Moore himself in this film than in "Bowling for Columbine". Granted, he did do a lot of voiceovers, but that was to be expected given the documentary nature of the film. He was only present in the image for what, maybe 15 - 20 percent of the movie? Mostly, he just let the junta hang itself with its own rhetoric and stupidity. I will be recommending it to everyone I speak to at work tomorrow... maybe even some of my customers.

I am a regular listener to Randi Rhodes and although she can be annoying at times, it surprised me how much of the stuff she talks about was in that movie. The theater was fully packed!!! No trouble makers were around. Moveon.org was outside handing out brochures. Is this a great country or what!!!!!

I watched the media whores and pundits ripping it to shreds tonight......that slut Lisa Myers was on every hour on the hour trashing it,and when they took a short break from that,they lit in on President Clinton and the Monica Lewinsky fiasco. I am so ashamed of some of the people in this country.....Bu$h should be the one they focus on with all the piles of manure he is spreading and smearing this country with....my God...What in the world are these people THINKING? But you can only squeeze so much of history in two hours. He does it in a manner that is both funny and sad. He also takes a swipe at Daschle and Gephardt for lining behind the Repgugs....I hope you see it in a theater, but it will be out two months before the election on DVD.

36. It did not rise to the standards that Mr. Moore

set with Roger and Me. That I consider his gold standard. He is a brilliantly talented filmmaker and I find that his ranting is not as well done as his more reasoned analysis in the past.

He's playing to the crowd and to emotion, and that is the lowest form of documentary filmmaking there is. I expect documentaries to examine things with cold hard facts. Moore has been very good at this in the past, but for F9/11 he uses emotion and hatred to guide his hand.

Make no mistake, this movie is propaganda. Good propaganda, sure, but it is in the same class as Triumph of the Will just not as well made.

I personally, resent that this nation has sunk to a culture of emotion. Think on this for one minute:

If you can honestly say that if Michael Moore had made this exact same movie about President Gore's administration, and that the Freepers were ecstatic about it and lining up in the rain to see it, that you would still think it was a great movie, then I will conceed the point to you that this is a great documentary.

BUT, if you only think it is great because you agree with the message, then your opinion is a bit biased don't you think?

Are you so clouded by emotion that you are unable to enjoy art that you don't agree with? are that only art that concurs with your opinion is great? that is the tone that everyone on this board seems to be taking, and I, personally, think it's very mobish, just cause it feels good to be a lemming, doesn't mean it's a great thing.

As for your emotion point: I think you are not making the distinction between emotion and sentimentality. Emotion is a natural reaction from the audience to the art. Sentimentality is the cheap exploitation of emotion by the artist. Almost every half decent artist or storyteller can wring emotion out of you by playing tricks with his/her art. only the greats can leave the art as it is and have the emotion come from within you. This is the difference between Thomas Kinkead and Johannes Vermeer. Both are/were technically competant painters. Kinkead plays on emotion to get a reaction from you, takes the shortcut. Vermeer makes you have your own emotions about the work.

In no way am I saying that people shouldn't see F9/11, go right ahead. If you enjoyed yourself, fine, that's great. But it is, make no mistake, a commercial venture from Mr. Moore. He knows exactly what to say to get your blood boiling, like Rush and his ilk on the right. He knows how to fire you up and get you to spend money. And he uses that for financial gain. remember that. I'm not opposed to him making successful movies, I'm not opposed to him making money, but think while you watch it, about how he's getting you pissed off, intentionally, how he's jerking the heartstrings, intentionally. Don't call it a documentary, call it by it's real name: propaganda.

Enjoy it, if you will, but don't expect me to lower my standards for art and documentary filmmaking, simply because I like the message.

I didn't learn anything new. It was comprehensive and well put together. The audience laughed, sneered, and cried in abundance. Lots of exclamations of disbelief and disgust. packed theater, and they were running two shows. City of 100k conservative part of MN The entire audience applauded and cheered at the end.

There's nothing wrong with that, but (again, from what I hear), it isn't up to the film-making standards of moore. On the other hand, something like this might be what is needed to wake up many normal people who have been previously swayed by the constant emotional and moral juggernaut that has been the right. Went last night to see it with the GF. Yes, very emotional, MM knows how to play on the emotional. What would I change? In the sequence showing dead Iraqis, show some of our Soldiers dead. Americans who were fooled and went gung ho to their deaths. If you really want to play the old heart strings, that is.

Moore has done much better, imo.

FWIW .. no protesters here in Charlotte, NC. 25 people (I counted) in a theater built for 200+ while next door WHITE CHICKS was packed. Most seemed to be going into Shrek 2 (Many families with kids) One Guy stood up at the end and clapped.

The GF said MM would do better to talk less and stay off camera more, but she's a bit shallow.

This is a film. It's not a test that you can grade. Some people will like it and other's won't. That's the way it goes for all art. If you're going to disagree with the parent poster, at least try and offer some valid reasons as to why he had his head up his ass.

I haven't seen it yet, so I cannot yet give my subjective opinion about this piece of art.

The number of people jumping on the original poster here is quite disheartening.
