Let's put aside fetishes or anything illegal. What do you think of mainstream XXX PORN?

Some of it's degrading, some of it's just gross, some of it's fun.

2. It's okay for a laugh

Really, some of the crap is so faked and besides once you've seen one, you've seen them all.

3. I prefer the vintage stuff

You know, Gilded Age erotic postcards. I don't really like hardcore stuff. I don't find it sexual at all. It's cold and mechanical to me. Plus, the women in those old photographs are more of the body type I like.;)

4. On principle, I think any sexual act between

consenting adults is fine. I am concerned about mainstream porn, though. I think the unrealistic body images, sexual prowess, and submissiveness of women may harm relationships. Few of us, male and female look like porn stars. Few of us have sexual relationships as portrayed. To the extent that this is seen as typical or expected, then it hurts relationships.

5. Boring

I find most of it boring. I need a crafted story with well-developed (not that way!) characters. The hard core I've seen is just too shallow.

6. Mainstream is stale and hackneyed

It's all about the money shot. There is no eroticism whatsoever. It's all male-oriented, lowest-common-denominator stuff. No soul, no heart, no art. It's mechanical. You could pair a set of plastic parts with lighting and makeup and make it just as exciting as most porn today. Live People not required. It's as dead as rock'n'roll.

7. I just wish most of it wasn't so degrading to women

I'm not against pornography but why is so much of it so degrading for women?

9. me too. I admit to watching on occasion. But I am concerned about

not just the images in many movies being degrading, but also the fact that so many women and teens get into the industry for various negative reasons.

I saw a show about exhibitionists one time, and some of the women were porn stars. They were defending the industry, and saying how nothing turned them on more than knowing everyone was watching them. I am FINE with people like them making these movies. But I know that some of the participants are truly being exploited, and that is why I have mixed feelings about it.

I can't watch men in porn. The money shot? Jesus, who needs to see that. I wonder about men who like to watch other men. If you're gay fine, but I am decidedly not.

If you put yourself in the position of the guy, getting off on your own orgasm is a normal thing to do.

For the kitsch factor and the erotic factor. It's an artform that is developing before our very eyes.

One day some artist is going to see the art in pornography and is going to try to re-fabricate its dirty, seedy mystique but they will fail because said mystique exists only within the bubble of the very puritan society where it is produced. It's a humanities case study waiting to happen, IMHO

For me (and my wife) it is artistic as it is erotic. We find it fascinating. :thumbsup:
