1. Antiseptic.
It's a brand of povidone-iodine, used on the skin for surgical prep, general disinfecting, etc.

6. It's a surface antiseptic that hospitals use.
It's a dark brown odorless watery liquid that stains rust-red whatever it comes into contact with. Unlike alcohol it doesn't sting at all. I discovered it when they used it on me preparatory to surgery. Several months later I bought some for home use. I discovered another use for it that isn't even on the label. The stuff is the BEST treatment I've ever used for insect bites and stings. It takes the pain away so completely and so immediately that it's like magic. I'm not exaggerating.

9. It is one of the Army's greatest contributions to society...
Povidone-iodine solution was invented by a doctor at the Army Burn Institute for treating people with extensive third-degree burns, like you'd get if the tank you were in caught fire.

Since the Army doesn't have any manufacturing capability, they farmed it out to Purdue Pharmaceuticals--yep, the same drug company that makes OxyContin--who realized what a wonderful thing it was.

11. Okay, I get it now.
She doesn't want it for an antiseptic, but for the brown stain it gives the skin.
