Whoever Said F9/11 Was "Nothing New" Was Wrong
Just saw it. The media whores had made me expect an overbearing, rabid Michael MOORE eating up the screen. It was low-keyed, but intense, and very moving.

As for "new". Despite all of the past two or three years spent here on DU, where so much of the material is out there more than for the rest of non-DU-America, there still were new details for me. Plus, even the familiar material was PUT TOGETHER in a cohesive narrative. This and many of the IMAGES were PUT TOGETHER in MOORE's own vision of things, so the end product was, indeed, "new" and unique. So there.

1. Most of us never saw the Black Caucus-Senate confrontation
So chances are there is something new for most of us anyway...

4. I'd seen that, but it was great to be reminded of it. Proud of some reps
and disgusted with the Senate. And impressed by Al Gore's dignified behavior at that hour (though of course I wish he had traded dignity for tenacity outside of that procedure).

5. I was shaking with anger during that part
Not one damn Senator. Why??? I wish Moore would have given a more clear answer to that question. It's bothering me that I don't know why the Senators didn't step up. Did Daschle convince the Democratic senators that now was the time for "unity"?

I didn't know about the eggs being thrown at Bush during the inauguration and I also don't remember the protests that day.

I also didn't know Hamid Karzai's connection to Unocal.

What Moore did a great job of is taking all the horrible news stories that I've been reading about for the past 4 years and put them together in a way that made a little more sense. It finally clicked for me last night how Osama's terrorist acts equaled a substantial financial gain for the rest of his family due to their investment ties with the Carlyle Group.

11. Once SCotUS Had Dictacted, GORE Accepted
I think the Dems had caucused and agreed to follow the "noble" route. To do otherwise would have beem political turmoil, a.k.a. "revolution". It has been said that NIXON, who had an "historical" frame, knew he had been hustled by the KENNEDYs and chose not to contest it so as not to set off turmoil----ironic for the later turmoil he set off.

2. Didn't know his connection to Saudi money was in TANG
...and got the boot at the same time he did off Texas Air National Guard flight status. I cannot imagine any real aviator not fighting tooth and nail to get that back or appeal the suspension or something. Not homeboy George. Not flying was just fine with him. So what does a wingless pilot do exactly in the Air National Guard??

They must have been partying like it was 1999 back at Ellington Field (or whereever the hell in Houston they were).

12. Yeah, I know - that was one of the best parts of the film!!
Moore is a master of his art. He taps into pop culture and uses it (and humor) in a way that keeps the audience interested in what could be a dry documentary. (e.g., Robert Greenwald's documentaries were wonderful for their content, but they are for a more intellectual audience. Moore knows how to reach the masses.)

The music Moore used in F911 was brilliant!

3. Also had ZERO clue that people actually pelted the limo with eggs
...on "inauguration day".

That was stunning. The Secret Service must have cleaned house after that event. Their tactics for protection sure as hell changed.

6. That scene gave me hope
I've been dismayed that liberals did nothing when our election was stolen and thousands of mostly voters were disenfranchised. I knew from DU that there was some protest but I had no idea how big it was. I'm ashamed I wasn't there with all who did protest.

I also agree that this was new material. Some of this info I had read, most I had heard about before but seeing the actual clips on full screen had a huge impact. I left with tears streaming down my face from pure hatred at these thugs. I also have joined the LIHOP/MIHOP club.
