There are sports, like baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, etc., etc.
Then there’s wrestling. It’s not just a sport. It’s a battle. You’re all alone in a nine- to ten-minute, all-out, grind-your-teeth, nitty-gritty war against a foe who may be weaker or stronger than you. You just don’t know.
Then there’s the mental aspect of the sport – err, battle. You have to be aware of your opponent’s moves and thoughts. And you have to be quick on your feet (literally and figuratively) in when it comes to making decisions.
There's nothing like two people going at it in a fight to see who is tougher, stronger, and more skilled, both mentally and physically. Other sports are competitions in skill, and involve balls, bats, sticks, and other equipment. Wrestling involves little equipment: Just a mat, headgear, and… well, balls.
Wrestling is the ultimate battle of toughness. There’s nothing like it.
Has anyone else here ever wrestled, in high school or college, perhaps?
