After repeated emasculation attempts on my part by dismissing him completely... he reaches over and grabs my forearm... Ok... NOW I'm seeing red, with some bellowing drunk idiot holding my arm... and a REPUBLICAN... "And don't fucking touch me either" as I grabbed his hand and threw it off my arm. Sheesh.... anyway, he left then. :) but he ruined a perfectly good Guinness.

It's hard to distinguish what's "gone too far"... I probably would have waited for a second attempt, and then gone for the knee in the groin... but who knows, maybe he would have actually hurt me by then. Food for thought.

14. Yep, it's a tough call, but in a public setting like that

it probably is best -- even with all thought of pacifism aside -- to err on the side of Gandhi. Even if you're well within your rights, you can get nabbed for defending yourself. Seems like there's no way to tell for sure until the violence is overt, and by then it's often a tad too late. :-(

Anyway -- excuse me while I don my armchair quarterback garb -- I think you handled it just right. May it never happen again.
