Anyone a Netflix member?
I am considering signing up with them. Anyone have any negative or positive experiences with Netflix?

1. I have been a member for about a year
I've had nothing but a great experience. We get new DVDs with in 3 days of mailing one back and the selection is great.

Right now I have over 100 movies in my queue.

I say try it for 2 weeks free and see if you dig it.

2. A lost movie or 3 over the past...umm...5 or 6 years?
Considering the large number of films I've received from them over the years, I'd say that percentage is quite good. I joined so long ago I can still have 4 movies out at a time for some rate I forget, which I don't think you can get anymore.

Now that they have distribution centers all over the country, I get discs very fast. If I send back a disc on Monday, I'll get the next disc in my queue by Wednesday.

Thanks.

5. not a member now
but we were for around 3 years. its very good. we just werent watching enough movies to make it sensible any more.
you can watch as many movies as you can get turned around in the mail, never a late fee, if one gets lost in the mail they are cool about it.

basically 100 percent endorsement.

6. I was a member...
Needed to cut expenses, so I cancelled early this year. I had been on the 4 movies out plan, which they downsized to 3 movies a while back.

One downside is that they don't let you suspend your account if you need to go on vacation or something. You have to quit and rejoin, or just keep paying.

I was pretty happy with them otherwise... the selection is pretty impressive compared to my local Blockbuster.

That said, I've had pretty good luck with my local public library getting movies out for free. I have a stack of them at home now and I can watch them anytime over the next 21 days. New releases are pretty slow, but I'm more interested in older movies anyway. (I watched "John Q" last night, and now know what to do if I ever need expensive medical treatment. "Hostages -- the new Bush health plan")

7. I love them!
I've had a couple of issues with the DVD not playing but it was reported and got another copy that worked!!!

Just watched the movie Osama the other day, it was VERY interesting, I couldn't quite understand the symbolism of it all but I thought it was a great movie. Definitely recommend it to others. Osama is about a girl who has to pose as a boy in a Post-Taliban era in Afghanistan to support her mother and grandmother.

9. I need to rack my brain
for movies that I would like to order, in the future, through Netflix. Osama sounds pretty cool.

10. What kind of movies do you like to watch??
They have a BROWSE section and recommendations based on ratings you give them once you join...but their recommendations are terrible sometimes if you ask me.

Osama is a great movie to check out! Let me know what you think of it if you watch it!

I've been a member for over 6 months. I never really used to watch a lot of movies, I never rented very many video tapes either, but I like Netflix most for the old TV shows I loved as a kid or Cable TV shows I was never able to see because I don't have cable. I'm watching a lot of movies now though, based on recommendations from friends usually. But I'm also renting stand up comedians, classical music performances, music videos ... all kinds of unusual things I probably wouldn't have thought of before I joined Netflix.

I just had my first DVD lost in the mail. I thought I was going to have to pay for it, but surprisingly you just click the "Lost in Mail" doohicky and they'll send you another copy and not charge you anything! I was very impressed. My queue is about 115 movies long. I anticipate there'll come a time when I'm watching a lot less but Netflix has a cheaper option where you can only have 2 movies out at one time, with a maximum of 4 movies per month. I'll probably move to that eventually.

There's this great commercial for Netflix playing occasionally. A grieving widow is dressed in black, quietly sobbing on the living room sofa while her distraught family watches. There is a sound of mail being delivered and through the slot in the front door, amongst a tumble of envelopes, is a bright red Netflix envelope. Suddenly an excited smile touches the widows face, she stands up suddenly to head for the door, remembers where she is, puts her sad face back on and sits back down, all the while staring hungrily at that bright red envelope. It is such a perfect commercial and sums up exactly that little jolt of joy you get when you see your latest DVD in the mail.

If you're even thinking of trying Netflix, you should. It's really easy to cancel.
