Just started "Main Street" by Sinclair Lewis.
Has anyone else read it lately?

Got about 60 pages into it last night and so far it's damned good. The social indroduction party for the main character, Carol, which included the small towm elite bitching about Unions, Democrats, Socialism, Anarchy and Labor, was hilarious.

It was published in 1920 but you can here the same language here at DU today.

The more things change...

1. Haven't read it lately
but it is a good read. I did read Lewis' "It Can't Happen Here" not too long back. It's a nice look at the coming of a fascist government to USA, wrritten pre-WWII, and like Main Street, still applicalbel today.

Lewis is brilliant at capturing the heart of the good ol' USA.
