1977 Raleigh "Grand Prix". Center pull brakes, Sun Tour "Power shifter" levers,and the oddest freewheel I've ever seen. A French Maillard, cogged 34-30-23-18-14....They must have intended this one to climb L'Alpe D'Heuz or something....

All lovingly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together with new grease, cables, tyres, and white cork bar tape, finished off in "Proper Rivendell Style" with windings of hemp twine...

Maybe it'll convince my ESSO to give up that gaspipe Huffy "mountain bike" she rides...

I think it's very cool that you keep on rescuing these old bikes and giving them new life.

Pictures would be really cool, since " 1977 Raleigh Grand Prix " doesn't really tell me much.

I have no personal website to host the pictures at....

Still not riding as much as I like. Maybe only twice a week, and nothing on weekends because of having to help my girlfriend around her yard/garden...I did knock off 24 miles in a bit less than 2 hours last week!

The only differences are that now it has black cable housings and i got rid of the "pie plate" (spoke "protector")
Everything else is the same.

I love Frankenbikes. I had a friend who did that and they always looked and rode really well. He taught me what I know about repairing my own.

7. Craft stores carry it.

Especially the "store that we dare not shop at" (Wally-World)
It comes in 3 sizes, a small that you can almost sew with (reminds me of sailmaker's twine) and 2 larger sizes that work for general lashing and decorative work.
I whip-serve the bars with the small stuff, then coat with DUCO cement to hold it.
