Update On The Whole Cooking A Meal Thing....
I've decided upon this for the menu tonight:

Grilled steaks with a parsley-garlic sauce
Roasted rosemary potatoes
Sliced Tomatoes with Fresh Mozarella and Balsamic Vinegar

How does that sound to you guys? :hi:

I took a tbone out of the freezer last night :D

today, I invested in a large cast iron skillet. I think they are best to cook steaks using the stove top.

what do you think?

7. Indeed, cast iron!
Make sure the cast iron is seasoned. Spray it with vegetable oil spray and bake it in the oven for an hour or so, so the whole thing becomes non-stick. (If you got an iron lid with your frypan, season it too.) Don't scrub out the pan with steel wool; just wash it and let it dry to keep the seasoning.

It's far better to get iron in your system than aluminum (which has been traced to Alzheimer's). And if you heat up the iron skillet or griddle, it will really sear the meat and keep in the juicyness and flavor. Those thin stainless steel fry pans just don't do the job.

(For you Vegans, it works the same way when you're stir-frying vegetables.)

Of course, the best way to make a steak is still to cook it over charcoal (possibly with hickory chips to smoke in some flavor). But for indoors, the skillet/griddle is very good. (And liquid smoke flavor tastes almost as good as real smoke.)

I had to get a second one (one to make the grill marks) just in case I want to make cornbread in the first one.

23. Burgundy goes better with steak than merlot...
at least, in my opinion...merlot tends to be just a little too dry to really complement the steak, most of the time.

34. I had sliced tomatoes with fresh mozarella last night!
we didn't add balsamic vinegar though (we normally do) but we decided to bake it and add some fresh basil. YUMMY.

Tonight my husband made broiled sole, spinach pasta with a creamy curry sauce and buttered leeks. It was the first time we had the curry sauce and it was absolutely incredible.

Your meal sounds great. We'll have to do a DU recipe swap some day.
