Twin Cities DUers!
Hi All,

Our friend and Mod. SocialDemocrat1981, will be in town tomorrow (Thursday) through Sunday. Does anyone want to get together; say at Bryant Lake Bowl, the Uptown, or some other venue for an impromptu gathering? Come one come all and show our Australian friend the wonders of the Twin Cities as well as our dazzling wit, love for deep fried candy bars and Grain Belt beer. ;-) We will show him that this is truly Wellstone country. :bounce: It should be great fun.

I will be hosting our friend, but due to extenuating circumstances, I will not be able to show him around on Thursday and Friday morning. Will anyone be available for some sightseeing and/or lunch on any of these days? Either PM me or post a message and I will provide additional details.

Please keep this kicked. And thank you one and all. :toast:

but Thur and Fri a.m. are out for me. *sigh*

You could turn him loose at the Fair.

2. Thanks for the reply.
:hi: How have you been? I really haven't been around DU for awhile. I think we should try to have another big time get together for the fall.

Would you be able to meet up with us on Friday or Saturday for an appetizer and a cocktail? I'd love it if you could hang out for an hour or so. :toast:

Friday afternoon is clear (for the moment), and Saturday just has the usual million item 'to-do' list. I'd love an excuse to set it aside for a few hours...

I'm not much of a shopping person, but i think Camp Snoopy is the best ever. (that's just me of course, the lowly high school freshman)

4. Hi Breezygirl
:hi: We haven't discussed the MOA option, but I'll go if he is interested in witnessing the behemoth for himself. I only know how to navigate the movie theater area, so I fear, if we were to visit the mall, we would be forever lost in one of the parking ramps for the duration of his short stay in the Twin Cities. ;-)

40. Funny story about getting lost in a parking ramp @ MOA
I was about seven and I went there with my mother, who has a terrible memory. She put me in charge of remebering what "state" (that's how are the areas are marked at the Mall, FYI) we had parked in. Now, when i was younger, I had the odd little habit of confusing Florida and California. So of course, I tell my mom we're in FL and of course, we're not, and we end up staying there looking for our car really late. I thought it was really col cuz I had never been in the Cities that late at nite! My mom, not so much, but I did.

41. Ummm the Mall is in Bloomington
and while the City Council likes to think of it as a city it really is just a burb with a glandular problem (uncontolled growth). I know, I live there. And it is also Republican-ville (gets worse and worse the further west you go in town).

8. I'd enjoy getting together at Bryant Lake Bowl or somewhere
Friday evening is looking good for me for getting together and talking about how anyone could possibly enjoy putting beetroot on a perfectly good hamburger. Fair Dinkum!

As for the Thursday and Friday morning gigs, if not the Fair or the MOA, then Fort Snelling, Mendota, the Capital, or the Minnesota History Center are all nice options that one can do on one's own.

It'll only work for me personally if we do this Sunday, but I also haven't had a chance to go to the fair yet, and I'd like to squeeze that in on Sunday, too. The reason is that I've got an NDSU game against mighty Tusculum College of Tennessee;-) on Saturday night.

My vote for entertaining SD1981 on Thursday or Friday would be the fair. It's just sooooo Minnesotan. He can visit the DFL booth.
