The catch is, it's going to cost over $100,000:

1. Ford is hitting the "retro" craze hard!
The new Mustang will have '67-like front end.
The Thunderbird looks like the older models in several ways.
Now an updated GT40.

If I win the lottery, maybe...looks pretty sleek.

I've been a Euro/Japanese car fan all my life (but I've always loved American cars from the sixties). It looks like Ford may strike gold with these new models. On the other hand, I really like the Focus--especially the SVT model. They were smart and basically imported the European version unchanged. Remember when they tried that in the eighties with their 'Merkur' brand? Great cars--lousy marketing premise (i.e. ditch a brand with a century of equity for an unheard-of name.)

Although the new T-Bird is officially dead. Too expensive and too underpowered. For that price, people could buy a Bimmer or Infiniti or Lexus and get waaay more power and better build quality.

4. Nothing like a '60s muscle car!
(This from a former '66 Impala owner.)

I am seriously considering the new Mustang when it is time to put the Infiniti out to pasture (in 2005/06). By then, Ford will have worked out the bugs, and it'll still look really sweet!

Of course, I could just buy a muscle car, pay to have the brakes upgraded to 4-wheel disc, upgrade the suspension and put a fuel-injected modern v-8 into it.

7. Here are some great photos to drool over.
They're desktop size, and hence too big to post here, but they're awesome. (The GT is my desktop at work)
