Three Thumbs Up For "Feedback" By Rush!
Never cared for this band at all until a fiend at work turned me on to this collection of (GASP!) cover tunes. Jesus Tapdancing Christ but them boys can play!

It takes a huge amount of nerve to tackle Buffalo Springfield songs, but I be go to hell if Rush doesn't do a GREAT job on "Mr. Soul" (complete with a quote from "Eight Miles High" during the break) and "For What It's Worth."

They do "Heart Full Of Soul" and "Shapes Of Things," both of which stand up well to the Yardbirds' originals. Alex Lifeson even nails Jeff Beck's tone!

The only issue I can take with Rush's version of Love's "7 And 7 Is" is that they left the explosion off the end of the song. They do The Who's "The Seeker" and nail it shut. They do Blue Cheer's version of "Summertime Blues" to a fare-the-well. Their rendition of Cream's "Crossroads" is mighty mighty.

Been a long time since I've been this impressed by a CD. Wish I had me a spliff as big as my leg rat now! WOO HOO!

1. I've been a long time Rush fan
In fact they were just in town recently and threw out the ball at a Rangers' game. Geddy Lee and all the boys in Rush have always been baseball fans. Besides being great musicians that scores points with me too. ;)

3. According to the anti-rock music right wing preachers in the 80's it meant
"Ruling Under Satan's Hands" or "Rivers Under Satan's House".

For some reason they always thought that bands with 4 letter names were the most "evil" and that the name was always an anagram for something unholy. A few more examples:

Ac/Dc - "Anti Christ Demon Crusade"
KISS - "Knights In Satan's Service"
Asia - "All for Satan In America" - I found that one especially amusing, since Asia was made up entirely of aging English prog-rockers. Their music wasn't satanic. Just boring as Hell

Edited to add: I did not know about the rivers under Satan's house. Are they rivers of molten lava? I really did not even know about Satan's house. What were they teaching me during those 2 years of confirmation anyway?

5. I abhore fundies who are
afraid of loud music. Seeing as Jesus was such a rebel in his day, it would seem that loud, grab-your-attention music would be what he would prefer.

6. Fundies do WELL to be afraid of loud music!
Shit, some of the Baptists still won't even let a guitar into the church house (their loss!). Besides, it's hard as hell (all puns fully intended) to remember what a sinner you are when Grace Slick is ROARING inside your head.

This Rush CD is a gateway drug, BTW. The next step after you hear it is Buffalo Springfield and/or The Yardbirds.

PS: Jesus is heavily into Earl Scruggs.
