Don't normal Nextel Cup (Non-night races) start at 12 local time? Why did the Chicago race start at 2:30? I only have a little NASCAR knowledge, but I always thought they started at noon.

There's so set time for NASCAR races. Sometimes they are at night.
A race on the West Coast will be shown in mid-afternoon on the East Coast.

2. It's because Chicago is on Central, not Eastern time. |

Most races start at 1:00 to 2:00. The Sears Point (yeah Infineon, yuck!) starts at 1:00 p.m. PST.
