Maybe Clark
will declare this weekend. I can't believe for a minute he would declare as a repug after all the things he's been saying. I will be for him, hopefully we can get a Dean/Clark ticket or vice versa. However that's not to say the other candidates aren't great. I and my family and friends admire all of them-with one noteable exception. You folks know who I mean. Whoever gets the nomination and then wins will have an easy time coming up with a cabinet-all they have to do is look at the other candidates.

1. Coy Clark
He is kind of a bland cross between Perot and Powell, who were claimed by disaffected members of both parties before they declared their true allegiance. He is not unlike fellow general Colin Powell when both Dems and Repubs were clamoring for him to run years ago. Oops.

I don't think Clark will be drafted - there is no such thing in the way the primary process is set up - way too rigged. I doubt if he runs, but of he does, it will be an ineffectual third party independent candidacy or a faltering, underfunded Dem campaign. Too thin of a chance he would run counter to Bush in the GOP, but I'd laugh my ass off if he did - just to watch the implosion in GD.

If he runs as a Dem, he will be outspent and outflanked on many levels. His lack of directness - peppered with such memorable sound bites on national TV appearances such as the Democrats are "bubbling with ideas", and the Republicans "have good people" are the usual blasé mediocrities one expects of the 2004 field.

The fawning on his cultist website notwithstanding, other than some pointed remarks about the failure of post-invasion Iraq, he is alarmingly unspecific about where he wants to take the nation. Expect more of the same "whatever is in our national interest" aggressive corporatist, reactionary foreign policy. Sure, he dresses it up in the rhetoric of "multilateralism", but be not fooled. He is more of the same, from the raw sewage pipeline spewing from the Pentagon.

4. nope
I am too right for the Greens, and too left for the moderate/centrists. And sometimes I think the whole political spectrum model is phony and limiting. But I can speak its language when needed.

5. thanks for the kick
Though I was hoping for more than a trite sitcom-like cliché as a reply, but I am not picky. :-)

(snip)

More than likely, General Clark would wait until sometime after Sept. 15, a financial reporting date for presidential contenders. If he announces before then, he would have to reveal how much money he raised in the third quarter of the year, which pales beside the millions generated by Dr. Dean, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts and other leading Democratic candidates.

A possible date for an announcement is Sept. 19, when General Clark, who has been highly critical of Bush administration foreign policy, is scheduled to deliver a speech at the University of Iowa. The subject is "The American Leadership Role in a Changing World."

8. I don't know about Clark
From what I have heard from other people about him he is a pretty sneaky character. The only good thing about Clark is that if he debated against anybody in the BCF about Military he would stomp a verbal mudhole in his ass.
