About tattoos.

No I'm not getting one, just a question.

A friend mention to me that a woman she knows has a tattoo on her shoulder that means she's bi-sexual. Has anyone ever heard of that before? And if you have what does it look like.

It doesn't really matter if a guy gets his right or left done anymore. So you should just get whatever side you want. If you have it in one side and a guy hits on you and it bothers you that freaking much either take it out or switch ears. But it'll probably have nothing to do with the earring to begin with.

5. Not to offend any ladies here...

....But I think tattoos on a woman make her look "cheap". It doesn't matter to me where on her body or how small it is, I just don't find it appealing in any way....I expect this kind of stuff from men, because we're "like that", but not from women.

I think it's gotten so far outta hand that you're chances of finding a clear-skinned woman nowadays is no better than 50-50. LOL.

For the record, I am a man, and I don't mind tattoos on a woman if they are reflective of her personality, or if the tattoos have a deep personal meaning. Tattoos just for fashion's sake are unappealing.

But, I had a few girlfriends that had them near, their lower belly, and well, it kind of spooked me. One was a parrots head the other was speedy gonzales saying Arriba. I found them distracting.

Have these women seen old sailors and bikers? Do they know that visable tatoos are handicaps, not enhancements? Try to get a job dealing with the public tatooed like a circus freak! Ain't gonna happen. Why limit yourself?
Do they know it is painful and expensive to remove them? Do they realize they won't be young forever? Do they know what the tatoo will look like when someone is calling them grandma? You know, "Mommy, why does grammy have a butterfly looking thing on her back?"

Thats right, I don't understand the whole concept. I am out of touch, I am a prude, I am what ever. Most important, I am being honest.

There's just something "undignified" about it when it comes to women, for me....I've always felt that women should be above this kind of "self-defacement" that men put themselves through....I don't know if they feel as if it somehow enchances their appearance, but it sure doesn't work for me.

I don't know....I't could be an old fashioned streak in me that I'm no hurry to "get over", you know?

15. In defense of tattooed women

1. When I'm an old woman, a faded, wrinkled tattoo is probably going to be the least of my worries. If it is one of my major concerns, I'll be able to count myself very fortunate indeed.

2. I am proud of my decision to alter my body with my tattoo. I have many "accidental" body markings such as scars, stretch marks, moles, etc. Should I obsess about them and look upon them with dismay? Should I beat myself up for having taken the slings and arrows of fate upon my skin? I refuse to feel "cheapened" by accidental permanent markings. So why should I be made to cheap because I made a conscious choice to make my body further reflect who I am?

3. Maybe you need to think about why you feel the need for women to be "perfect" and "unmarked".

She may personally feel that a tattoo is some kind of fashion statement, but it comes across as too extreme an effort to make some silly point.

I don't wanna beat this thing to death because it's a low-rent issue to argue about, but the same could be said for women who wouldn't date certain kinds of men because of THEIR appearances....You have to admit that you'd probably think twice about dating a man who had tattoos covering the length of his arms....Maybe it's a nose ring....It could be just a BEARD!

I'm attracted to the simplicity more than the extravagance of a woman....Tattooed women just don't look as feminine to me as an unmarked girl....They look to me as if they'd just been paroled or something....It's just not my preference.

To each his own. I was just sharing my thoughts on tatoos, can't help it, its the way I feel about them. I don't advocate tatoos for men either for the same reasons.

I think it is a foolish thing for a man to do as well. I am not being sexist in my opinion of tatoo's, men should have the same concerns as women. Where I work we employ temps from time to time and some get hired full time. One kid came in with a neck tatoo that couldn't be hidden, sort of like some NBA players have. The best line I heard was, "Nothing says temp like a neck tatoo"- he wasn't even considered for a job. This other guy had a genuine prison tat on his hand, it said "junior". Do you think management would hire these guys?

to tats as well. I'm a female a little old for the tatoo craze, back in my day only biker chicks had them. I think a modest tatoo on a 20-something girl looks OK, but a tat on an older girl? Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Not a pretty sight.
