Anyone else familiar with Cincinnati-style/Greek-style chili?
Having a plate now - yummy. Of course, I live in Cincinnati...there's nothing else to eat here.

1. The Greeks will put cinnamon in anything. They put it in peas.

They put it in chili, they put it in spaghetti sauce. Try it, it's good!

3. I too, am a Cincinnatian...
And I like the chili with one exception: the appearance. It looks nasty, but that may be due to the way skyline and goldstar prepare it. It is too ground up. I like to be able to see and discern what I eat. Maybe I will attempt a homemade version with ingredients purchased fresh from Findlay Market. BTW, good to see a fellow Cincinnatian here!

5. I have a recipe for it from my microwave cookbook
I make it from time to time, and it's pretty good.

I have to confess, though, that I don't go all the way with it -- I leave out the spaghetti.

7. AKA scillini's or Skyline Chili home of the 5-way and coneys
Friend of mine went to Univ. of Dayton Law School and we spent many a road trip nights wolfing down at Skyline. A 5-Way (spaghetti, chili, onions, beans and cheese) solved those munchie problems at 3AM.

Real Chili has no beans. Anything with beans is NOT chili. Secondly, cinammon???

9. The beans are added to the top of the chili
I'm not too fond of the cinammon myself, but my homemade chili over spaghetti with a topping of beans, cheese and onions is a favorite at my house. Give it a try.

10. Oh yeah!
Lived there for 10 years. Maybe we should sub-divide and have a Gold Star vs. Skyline debate. Nothing quite like the looks you get when you're no longer in Cinti and say "God, I could really go for a 3-way right about now"... ;)

(Side note: My sister worked at the Gold Star in Mt. Adams, where Jerry Springer came in to have lunch every day when he was a local news anchor...she had this HUGE crush on him, and she still has a straw wrapper of his. :D)
