3. I've seen the bats; they really exist
And I've been trapped on the revoloving bar at Circus Circus. For years I was fairly certain this book wasn't Hunter Thompson's biography, but mine.

4. ...oh and ice bring plenty of ice and some oranges I need those too
I actually went to the "bar" at CircusCircus in Vegas. It is now surrounded by crappy carnival games (CircusCircus is a dump and a freak show), is only open on weekends, and doesn't serve alcohol anymore. A great disappointment.

5. We can't stop here! This is bat country!!!
I think my favorite line from the film is :

And that, I think, was the handle - -that sense of inevitable victory over the forces of Old and Evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that. Our energy would simply prevail. There was no point in fighting - -on our side or theirs. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave. So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark - -the place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.

How awesome is that a description of the end of 60's idealism?

12. We'd been running an average $38 dollar room service bill for 48
consecutive hours. Panic. It crept up my spine like first rising vibes of an acid frenzy. There I was. Alone in Las Vegas, completely twisted on drugs, no cash, no story for the magazine, and on top of everything else, a gigantic god damned hotel bill to deal with. How would Horatio Alger handle this situation?

14. "Raymond"'s dad Peter Boyle played Carl Lazlo, Esq. in the movie
"Where in the Buffalo" 1980 with Bill Murray as Dr.Thompson. Johnny Depp's movie was better and not a compilation of stories.
