Let's analyze that MTV kiss, shall we?

Hmmm, two people kissing. No big deal.

Hmmm, one of them is 45 and the other one must be 17. Could be a problem but I don't care; they both act like they're 12 regarding how they want attention (which also explains their singing and acting abilities being equally undeveloped...).

Hmmm, both are females. Well golly jeepers Beav, Jesus seyz that's immoral! All us god-fearin' Christians should be in an uproar in an act that made Sodom and Gammorah look like a Gingham family picnic by comparison! :eyes:

If they were kissing to further a political movement, I'd be all for it. But these two have historically been whores to attention, nothing more. That's all they care about, do you believe they're doing it more for just the tawdry attention? (we're all selfish to varying degrees, but this is just beyond ridiculous!)

I will give Madonna credit, at least the songs she sings have meaning (which gets lost somehow in the videos made for them...)

And you're right, I may have been slightly harsh. I've enjoyed MANY of Madonna's controverial acts, namely her video to "Like a Prayer" with the Black Jesus and cross burnings. Her early 90s stuff was the best... But somehow, the lesbian kiss comes off as being utterly phony and pretentious. I dunno...

4. It should have been longer, wetter, and followed up by something SERIOUS..
And hey, what's wrong with 45 and, say, 20, which is what I think her real age is?

Its legal.

And frankly, I would not have a problem with either of them, or both.

But i'm married so let's just forget I ever mentioned it.....

12. She's 22
I'm 95% sure. I'm 100% sure she's over 21, but I can't remember if that was more than a year ago or less.

7. I will analyze it; she is ripping off Joan Jett.
All Madonna's career has been a series of appropriations of other people's persona's. This time it appears its Joan Jett. Joan Jett is a riveting, amazing human being, she wears black and dresses like a butch-y lesbian and at the same time is amazingly sexy to men and women alike, she is buff and feminine and sexy and hard and amazing all at once. Madonna, in the death throes of becoming a has been and irrelevant, is now scraping the bottom of the barrel, stealing anyone and anyone's identity, today its the black-clad steely lesbianism of Joan Jett, who knows what tomorrow.

Madonna is the vampire of celebrity, she sucks other people's fame as her life blood. She makes me ill.

Edited on Fri Aug-29-03 09:52 PM by edzontar
I love Joan Jett but her "act" is totally different--much more Rock N'Roll--thatnthe Pop and Dance-Hall stuff that Madonna has done--in my opinion, quite well.

But Madonna has done lesbo stuff before in earlier Videos and he SEX book.

so its not really new for her, really, as a performance gimmick, at least]

So she is getting older--that just happens, and it will happen to YOU too.

Women are held to this ridiculous age-fascist standard, even worse than men.

At least, so far as I can tell, she has so far resisted the nip-tuck treatments that are turning many mature but still decent looking women into bug-eyed zombies.

Seen poor Gloria Borger lately?

She's gone to CNBC and has those staring, vertical eye-balls now.

SHEESH!!!!

9. A decade or so later....
Madonna can still do better than Sandra Bernhardt.

She also looks to be in much better shape than Britanny, and I won't diss them for kissing. I know the idea entertained me when I first saw the picture. Who cares what they were whoring to, at least Madonna wasn't butchering another one of her songs for Gap jeans.

14. Quite
It's not the kiss, it's the context behind it.

Of course, I'm still in the wrong because I'd shock the hell out of people if my career didn't depend on how I act! So Maddie and Spearsie have got it rather easy...

Well, I'm a flaming queer. Watch me play 'roly poly tongues' with Madonna on national tv and see what happens! The Christian groups would applaud, and GLAAD would find for me a boyfriend quicker than you can say "Come!" (no double entendre meant...)

17. Why Whore Media calls this 'open mouth kiss' instead of 'French kiss'?
I'm I starting to become a conspiracy advocate?

Since the time I was 11 we called it French Kiss and I can't ever recall it being called anything else until this Whore Media blitz.

Why do we only hear on CNN... about the dying from heat in France and not the other EU countries?

Edited on Sat Aug-30-03 11:33 AM by wyldwolf
Seems the ones who have the biggest problem with it are the ones who can't stop talking about it.

Don't wanna see it or hear it, tune it out! Don't watch it. Let it go.

Why do performers like these eat so many of you up?

With so much going on in this country, the best you can do is bitch about Madonna.

At best, the original post sounds like whining.

27. Let's get a few things clear, okay? (or let's analyze your analysis of me)
1A. I didn't hear about the kiss until yesterday. I only mentioned it once, I have NOT been harping on this for days in a row. So what the skunk are you talking about?

1B. Name examples of mine where I prattle and bitch on constantly about, day after day after day? Apart from possibly commiting suicide or being single, I DON'T bitch on and on endlessly about the same topic. And since I just pointed out the only two possible examples, you can't use them. Nah nah-nah nah nah.

2. So what, people will talk about anything! Which rather amusingly leads us to #3:

3. You're good at pinpointing people who whine. But in your analysis of my analysis, it's clear that you too are whining. :P Pot calling kettle black, are we?

4. This is the Lounge, not General Discussion, where we try not to bitch about "with so much going on in this country". That's what's General Discussion is for.

So, YOU let it go and YOU stop the whining. I was just trying to stir up conversation and humor, I never anticipated such a hostile response!

1A. I didn't hear about the kiss until yesterday. I only mentioned it once, I have NOT been harping on this for days in a row. So what the skunk are you talking about?

Anyone reading this thread will plainly see that never once did I say YOU were harping on it. My exact quote was: "Seems the ones who have the biggest problem with it are the ones who can't stop talking about it."

"ones" denoting people in general, as was reinforced in another quote of mine from the same post: "Why do performers like these eat so many of you up?"

Certainly "ones" and "so many of you" denote more than one person, correct?

"ones" meaning the moralistic losers at Free Republic who couldn't let it go as well as a few artistic guardians here who feel it is there duty to point out their percieved shortcomings of various performers day after day.

If a thorn is in your foot, pluck it out. If you choose not to, why subject others to your painful wailing? (Again, "your" is a general - not personal -term.)

I believe the problem here is you think I was attacking you personally when in fact I was commenting on a mindset in general.

Madonna and Britney and Christina kissed. No, it wasn't political. Yes, it was for publicity.

26. I'm sickened by the reaction to it
one of the news stations out here did a story on it, going out into the street to get people's reactions to it.

One girl, who was probably 15 or 16, said: "Ewww, I thought it was gross."

Another person said "I don't like that at all, that is not appropriate."

Another woman claimed "They're all crazy those famous people."

So, once again, more proof that America is the land of the homophobic imbeciles.

-sigh-

2. I don't want to see lesbians kiss in public - ever

I don't French Kiss my wife in public. Sex is a personal matter.
Flaming lesbians, like flaming straight folk, should get a fucking room.

No indication given on whether this person was being sarcastic or not.
