Does your local area have some great product that nobody else knoes about?

Buffalo, New York

Weber's Brand
Hot Green Tomato Piccalilli Relish:

COOK WITH A CLASSIC!! .... This spicy red relish is the best topping available for hamburgers, hot dogs and in any recipe where an extra zest is desired.

4. the "non-famous" part is a problem; I'd say Einstein coffee

The cafes are far better than Starbuck's and the very good coffee is available at better shops throughout the city.

7. Here's a couple
From my homeland Ohio, Ballreich's Potato Chips. In Wisconsin, we have SunDrop soda, which I don't think is a national brand.

8. Double Cola
I walk by their huge worldwide headquarters of a few office suites every morning. http://www.double-cola.com/
Great cola with a lot less sugar. Ski, their citrus drink, is more like Sun Drop than Mt. Dew, not as much sugar. All of their drinks are less sweet than the national brands.

9. Support and ask for local brands!!
On the topic of this thread, local brands are going to disappear with the consolidation of the grocery business. These small state and regional producers must PAY for shelf space in larger chains, which means that many of them can not vend out of national retailers. If you shop at a larger chain, ask or demand local brands that you prefer. Bi-Lo, Winn Dixie, and Wal Mart are pretty bad about carrying nationals only, but Wally World has gotten better. Locally, Food Lion is about the only large chain that buys within the region.
