6. Great show!
I graduated HS in 1970, so that was the decade I came of age and can relate to this series a lot better than the 80s one. And the commentators they had were just perfect.

7. Nope
I had too much respect for my Achilles tendon to wear those things. And that's not even getting into how stupid they looked.

8. Not only did they look stupid, but
they hurt and were expensive! Ah, the folly of youth.

I hope Anne Kalso, the lady who invented them, is now broke and only able to walk downhill.

5. Sure did
Got it in 1978 and didn't get rid of it until two years ago when it became nearly impossible to find a store that carried them around here. We kept the frame and got a "California King" mattress which immediately started to sag. Haven't been able to sleep properly since. I guess I need to start checking out internet sources...

11. Yep... it was cheaper than a real mattress...
... and when I was younger and more mobile it made it a lot easier to pack up and move to a new apartment (every time the lease was up for renewal and the rent was raised).

Can you even BUY a brand new waterbed anymore?

I remember when every Joe in town was opening a waterbed showroom. Now you never hear about them.

12. Yes!

Full wave and I LOVE it!! It's like being on a cloud.
When I'm away from home and try to sleep on a regular bed, I can't!!

They still sell them.

13. Limited-Motion Bliss on the Waves
I miss my limited-motion heated water mattress - It was nice to have the warmed sheets in the winter. The trick was to buy a quality mattress and replace it when the baffles gave out.

The current mattress is a modified pseudo-water mattress with about eight filled tubes over which is a traditional toplet. One can use regular sheets, use a regular box spring/frame, and there's no heater required. It's o-kay, so far I guess.

14. My water bed days ended
when it tossed me onto the floor during the '94 quake. Man, talk about "catching a wave!"
